Talk:Dreadnought's Drift

After Vanquishing this area with Heroes and Henchmen, I felt like sharing my experience, since I found the area unexpectedly challenging and surprising...

Entering from the South, heavy patrols of Tundra Giants will stone to death their target extremely quickly. Frequent knockdowns will ensure nothing can be done about it if the chosen one is not protected. Using obstacles is the best course, since the AI will never understand why the projectile cannot go through them. Your heroes do the same, so fair is fair, heh ? As for me, I pulled and dodged like a rabbit :-] They may appear stationary, but don't get overconfident, as after I killed the first group, the remaining two changed position. If you're in their way, you won't have the luxury of choosing their target for them...Of course, the groups of Blessed Griffons are always a pain with Spell Breaker and their AoE can quickly slaughter a cornered party, which is the case when you enter the area with no room to move.

As for the Stone Summits, some stationary groups will generate vengeful Azure Shadows once decimated. Don't let your guard down, as they like to trigger their Signet of Judgement on the same target, which can be already weakened by the previous fight. Coming from the south, a very tight group of 4 Dolyak Masters and 3 Stone Summit Heretics patrols the northern entrance, a formation that is extremely difficult to crack without enchantment removal (my case). What worked for me after a couple of quick kills thanks to my initial payload of minion bombs, was to hold and damage them until they were on their energy reserve. Of course, switch target as soon as the current one receives Mark of Protection.

Overall, I think this zone is very interesting in Hard Mode : small, with diverse foes, and requiring good tactics and/or preparation. Congrats to the designer ! I enjoyed it (well, past my initial "welcome wipe", that is). Coming straight from Vanquishing Snake Dance, I had had the time to tune the most efficient tactics for my group in front of the same kind of opponents. It required even more tuning in Dreadnought's Drift ! It looks like entering from the North is a completely different situation, as all Stone Summits are gathered and split into their respective patrols right in front of you... 05:27, 8 August 2008 (UTC)Aliabastre

Thanks for sharing. Quite interesting considering I'm vanquishing atm. I know no one in their right mind would enter from the North unless they liked vanquishing in a party of 6. – josəph 16:13, 4 September 2008 (UTC)
When Vanquishing, I deeply recommend to keep on to Lornar's Pass while you have a full party of 8... At the time I did not, and I just failed Lornar's with 6 coming from Beacon's Perch. The first half was doable, but things get ugly when you reach the dense Stone Summit groups. My downfall was the big group with 2 Dolyak Masters that begins its long patrol once you go near them on the bridge. Looks like I'll have to go through Dreadnought's Drift again *sigh* 03:21, 14 September 2008 (UTC)Aliabastre

My thoughts on vanquishing this area... patience is very much a virtue here. The stone summit groups in the north-western side of the map are very large and very tough, and chances are good you'll wipe. The wipe itself isn't too much of a problem, since the summit go down eventually with enough brute force, but it's vital you don't get too close to the northern half of the map, where you'll res at the northern shrine... right in the middle of 2-3 massive groups. I was able to kill them all eventually, but if it wasn't for my stash of rainbow candy canes we probably would have been kicked out of the instance. (I say "we", but really it was just me and some hench.) So when attempting this, enter from the south, pull from the southern end of the circular path, and don't risk fighting within the circle until you're down to one 1 group. This may all sound obvious, but all it takes is one mistake and you'll be trapped at the northern res shrine, and if you have no means of removing DP... you're pretty much screwed. --Mme. User Mme. Vanquished this area tonight (last area for legendary vanquisher!!!)[edit]

Some notes I have for fellow vanquishers. Before attacking the 3 Dolyak Master group in the northern circle go to the temple of Dwayna and get the blessing +3 health regen is nothing to scoff at, another thing to do before attacking that group is to wait at one end of the circle, since there are 3 groups around the circle you can take them one by one which is what I was wiped by because I attacked the 3 dolyak master group and got another group from the backside and effectively killing me in a matter of seconds.

Other than that this area is really really easy and the only hard part is the 3 dolyak group and even that's simple if you have the blessing and a high damage output team.

Also sorry I'm a wiki newb so I don't know how to effectively put things into the discussion page If anyone can give me a link as to how I should be doing it would be much appreciated. ..͏..Ðreki..͏ 11:12, 20 February 2011 (UTC)

Short version[edit]

This place is cheap as hell. Extremely high risk, no worthwhile rewards, definitive Prophecies zone. You can tell how little fun there is to be had here when the nearest outpost is a ghost town the week of Nick's visit and nobody is farming for him because nobody else wants to go. If you don't have godly heroes and gear, expect to spend several masochistic hours grinding through this zone for no particular benefits. Sometimes, content isn't really content and should just be left out of the game. 05:50, 15 January 2012 (UTC)

^There was a time when I would have agreed with you. Back in Prophecies, this area was very difficult and annoying. However, in recent years, skills have fortunately (or unfortunately) gotten more and more powerful. Due to this, this area is now on par with many Nightfall, Factions, and even Sorrow's Furnace areas (if not easier).
TLDR: I just vanquished this area in 17 minutes with heroes. BTW, godly heroes/gear? It isn't like any heroes are better than any others. And you can get max perfect gear from collectors with little effort. 19:05, 17 February 2012 (UTC)

Please help currently stuck in DND[edit]

Hi, am I 60dp and stuck at the first res shrine, my team of 6 being repeatedly mobbed by about 3 groups of stone summit, maybe 40 enemies in all. Any suggestions? I started in Beacon's and trying to get to War Camp.

I am sorry to say it's probably going to be much easier to start again once you reach a -60 unless you can take down 1 enemy at a time but that takes ages! T1Cybernetic User T1Cybernetic Glob of Ectoplasm.png 10:50, 23 July 2012 (UTC)
the path down isn't meant as an easy shortcut, from beacons with 6 party it's very hard to fight down, those areas were meant to be fought from dorks upwards. To get to your outpost I wound say either get a runner or follow storyline till droks then go North. Spark-TBa 11:21, 23 July 2012 (UTC)
If you want a free droks run I can provide it :p If you're actually vanquishing from Beacons I'd restart from war camp. --User Chieftain Alex Chieftain Signature.jpg Chieftain Alex 12:32, 23 July 2012 (UTC)
