My word about possible nerf of this[edit]

To begin with, I wasn't the only one to talk about it, though I am the first one to describe the whole technique. I know very well what may come out of this page. This technique is not meant for people to skip factions at their leisure, it is not meant for the thing to go viral. But to be the one who posted it and talking about it in the cartography mod I've made, I think i have my word to say about it.

This shouldn't be nerfed in Elona, as it allows additional exploration, especially in the tutorial area (which can otherwise be mapped by elonan characters only), since Elona doesn't have much leeway. And it shouldn't be nerfed in Cantha, though this is were this can prove to be the most efficient, as it will make MTSC and MQSC (which are players and guild-leaded events) more difficult to organize if people need to do all the missions and quests. Regardless of these possible loss for the players, I believe this could also take a lot of time for programmers to redesign all gates to make people unable to cross it.--Ruine Eternelle (talk) 10:34, 20 May 2015 (UTC)

Cartography Research[edit]

So far all gates in Gandara, the Moon Fortress (including Consulate Docks and Pogahn Passage) can be minion tricked which can provide good improvement for elonan cartographer (southeast and northwest gates) The gates around Fortress of Jahai can be minion tricked, however, it seems that one will need auto or duo minion trick to go further by the south, and amount of fog uncovered by north isn't much. Doomlore Shrine's inside Barricade can be minion tricked, require SaO chain to enter the outpost. The gate in Churrhir Fields (close to the Chabhek Village outpost) can be minion tricked, this allows exploration of tutorial zone for non elonan characters. The gate west in the mission Ruins of Surmia can be minion tricked, and allow for a few bonus % but not much (so far it is the only known such gate in Prophecies)

The gate in Barbarian shore doesn't seems to be minion trickable. The gate in Arkjok Ward, near the entrance to Pogahn Passage doesn't seem to be minion trickable. However minion trick doesn't always work so could just have been unlucky.

Several gates that could be checked : Kaineng inside gates...The Frost Gate, Sifhalla inside east gate, Blood Washes Blood south west barricade... Any gate close to an uncoverable area is interesting to test.--Ruine Eternelle (talk) 13:25, 20 May 2015 (UTC)

Notes[edit]

Multiple gates in a row[edit]

Considering hero behaviour, heroes will appear at the player's location when they enter a zoning portal. With a bit of flagging, this should be possible and the process can start over. - Infinite - talk 15:43, 21 May 2015 (UTC)

I see what you mean. I think this should need to be tested. But if the gate is far from any portal heroes will have to walk a long way to get to it. Also, this only works once. On another note if the accessible area appears to be too small flag unneeded heroes before portal jump to avoid them becoming target of the minions.
Another way of passing multiple gates in a row is flagging the heroes far out of compass range and then releasing the flags. Their pathing will yield an impossible return-to-player path, and they will then teleport to the first possible location from where pathing will work. Best way is to flag them through a portal using micro map (U). This one works once though. Otherwise you need to be able to flag heroes out of compass range so this will work if gates are not too close to each other.

Minion trick in pre-searing[edit]

Got nothing better to do than think about it. All closed gates that can be reach in pre-searing are in the northlands, most next to a charr spawn (there are also those which require to take part in pvp zone or ascalon academy, where there are stupid henchmen, rurik and guards). No basic minion trick there, since no AoTL, two limited way to res (res signet,shrine) and two limited way to sacrifice oneself (running in a mob or spam blood renewal at 0 blood magic with over 610 health using a 40/40 blood which is too slow). So only melee foes can be used. Getting hit by charr warriors while well protected may work, however similar gates in post-searing ascalon do not seem to work.--82.240.45.162 21:51, 5 June 2015 (UTC)
Edit : First gate (near the bridge) and other gate (far north one) don't seem to be MTable :/

Vehtendi[edit]

Did I say vehtendi valley ? I hate Nightfall for having such unoriginal areas. I meant Yatendi Canyons, more precisely the north entrance of the Fortress of Jahai. Are you using texmod ? A welcome addition and note :). Especially for the "how-does-it-works-exactly?" part. It's true that removing verata's aura using Contemplation of Purity causes the minions to get unbound. Release Enchantments does the job too and is (abit) easier to get. I would still recommend letting the MM die so that minions focus on the character. Also, I wouldn't say "much faster" : awaken the blood+verata's aura already removes 2/3 of the hps, and spamming blood ritual with awaken the blood usually removes any remaining health very quickly. Killing the MM is easier for beggining, however it is slower, and with practice you can do the enchantment strip method with 100% consistency --67.169.7.66 21:15, 7 March 2016 (UTC)

I was asked to add a bunch of the glitchable gates to the list, but I've realised that doing so would just be adding a load of information without fixing the main issue that this article is a bit of a mess. Can we start by re-naming it, less ambiguously: "Gate glitch"? There are other tricks that can be performed with minions, and you generally don't need a minion to glitch most gates. I've never heard anyone call it a minion trick, but the term "gate glitch" seems quite common in the SC community. Mist Y (talk) 13:35, 20 June 2016 (UTC)

Late reply; in favour of renaming. Gate glitch is the general term for bypassing gates using a multitude of melee attacks, where minion trick is a workaround method to glitch through gates in areas where little to no enemies can attack a character with melee attacks. As far as I'm aware, minion tricks are the only way to bypass multiple gates in a row. As such, it should remain mentioned with appropriate levels of detail on the new location. - Infinite - talk 00:07, 17 October 2016 (UTC)

Other Gate Glitch[edit]

I don't think it is mentioned anywhere obvious on the wiki at least that I've found what about a mention of the /resign trick for spawning near the last door of an outpost you entered. It's different than the minion trick but sort of a gate glitch idk if maybe it should have a different page ie 'door glitch' or 'resign glitch'or something. The only mention of it I found is Talk:Treasure_Hunter#Boreal_Station nvm it is mentioned at Resign 71.181.72.248 20:56, 5 July 2017 (UTC)

Some new things[edit]

When you discover the portal of the cooperative ("Rilohn Refuge") in the area "The Floodplan of Mahnkelon". I find something, there is a door between "Rilohn Refuge" and "Moddok Crevice". The same place for a ressurect portal. I do a gate glitch and it works and you can walk in the dam.

For factions i have a Gate Glitch Sunjiang District, it"s useful. For exemple go to the Boreas Seabed, there is a portal near in the top, the glitch works and you can go in the top at the temple and the corridor. Maybe you can add it too. --Faune (talk) 19:28, 20 June 2020 (UTC)

I don't understand, you can glitch the rilohn refuge one but can you enter the outpost this way? For the Sunjiang one do you mean Pongmei Valley instead of Boreas Seabed? Where is the gate? I buy recently factions and nightfall. I have prophecy and EOTN. I do the cooperative kodonur crossroads and i discover the rilohn refuge. Before continuing the game I wondered if i can going in the dam without launch the cooperative of the refuge. So it's works with the door between the refuge and moddock (i have download maps of these game so i write what i see). I think it exists some others gate glitch door in this dam. I just try with this door.

Yes for factions, i discover recently some places (maatu keep, boreas seabed and the 2 factions city). I find a gate glitch between maatu and boreas, yes in Pongmei Valley, it's a portal near on the top in a tunnel, it's a path that leads to sinjiang district. You may be able to access Moddock by gate glitch on the dam, but then you cannot do the mission or access Bahdok caverns (explorable area requires completing the mission).
"a gate glitch between maatu and boreas" -> I suppose you mean "a gate glitch between pongmei and boreas", and yes the gate to the mission can be glitched (should be mentioned already).
Sunjiang district: do you mean that the portal from pongmei to the sunjiang district is closed and can be glitched? Then you enter sunjiang district and make your way to the north and reach the Corridor, then through the Tahnakai Temple explorable area you reach the Tahnakai Temple mission outpost. Is that correct?

I added sunjiang district. For moddock there is :

"Nightfall / Istan, Kourna / Areas with closed outposts (e.g. Beknur Harbor) / All gates to closed outposts / Early access to some outposts. Missions still require quests to be available.

I finish the cooperative in the refuge. So i don't try maybe later. I just kill the boss. Doors are open when i finish the quest so this glitch gate is useless. --Faune (talk) 10:10, 21 June 2020 (UTC)

A new glitch ?[edit]

I find something curious, not a gate glitch but maybe. I have a quest in arborstone cooperative. I leave the outpost tangldewood copse and i need to see someone who teleport to the cooperative. I search some glitches and when i died in this zone it teleport me between the cooperative and altrumm ruins (it works with the last ennemies near the man who teleport). I discover the altrumm ruins outpost (the doors was closed for the next zone, maybe it's ferndale). Later, i to do the cooperative at arborstone. Maybe if someone don't take the quest he can skip the cooperative and dors maybe can be open to go to ferndale. It's a kind of gate glitch. A resurrect gate glitch. Usage guide?[edit]

The first 3-skill build seems very unreliable to me. The flagged necro hero runs away from the gate most of the time, regardless of combat mode. The minion either chases it and ruins the attempt, or on the rare occasions it actually attacks my character, it fails to push him through the gate. I managed to make it work twice out of like 20 tries.

And I'm not sure how to use the 2nd build. Could anyone write down the steps? -- kazerniel (talk | contribs) 15:55, 18 April 2021 (UTC)

Found the video on the bottom of the page, but even if I'm running towards the minion, holding down W it doesn't work :/ It sometimes fake-pushes me through the gate, but it doesn't actually take me to the outpost behind, just as if I portal jumped, and after a while it teleports me back. -- kazerniel (talk | contribs) 17:57, 18 April 2021 (UTC)

Question : Can you glitch to Vizunah Local with this?[edit]
