Question[edit]

When exactly is this meant to be? and where are specifics about any of the events? --Astral Shadowbane

Oh yeah, i didnt include the date. All day 9th August if youre in BST (+1 GMT). And the events, other than this costume contest, are all secret. Just like Pink Day in LA. --Burning Freebies 19:21, 29 July 2008 (UTC)

Name[edit]

Hey there, nice event you have planned, but I have to protest against, above all us, the name you have for the event. To put it bluntly, it's quite obvious that it's almost a "copy & paste" event based on Pink Day in LA. Now while I and DRGN think it's great you want to do an event like Pink Day, changing the color can only get you so far, and from the looks of it you haven't really planned this event out all to well. Again, it's a great plan, but it seems wasted on the hope that, since it shares the similar name of Pink Day, it will be a great event. All in all, I'm saying piggy-backing on another event isn't the right way to go, and I and DRGN would like to ask you to change the name to something more creative. --User Master Saji Sig.jpgMaster Saji 09:02, 31 July 2008 (UTC)

It's just a color, and it's close to the Japanese holiday Greenery Day anyways. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Greenery_Day). DarkNecrid 14:13, 31 July 2008 (UTC)
I agree with Necrid. Listen, im really sorry about this, but youre just going to havr to accept the fact that I and the community like the events name, and i cant change it to anything else. Unless you have any decent name suggestions, i recommended you just deal with it. --Burning Freebies 18:56, 31 July 2008 (UTC)
In the name of Balthazar... people have to whine about everything.
Well I'm terribly TERRIBLY sorry for trying to protect an event that I, along with others, have spent many many many hours planning and trying to perfect only to have it associated with a half-assed event of a similar origin and name. As for names? Really? Enviro-Day or even Earth Day in LA. It's not the fact that it's of a similar name of Pink Day in LA, it's the association with it that doesn't fly so well for me and DRGN. --User Master Saji Sig.jpgMaster Saji 00:47, 1 August 2008 (UTC)
I am also not comfortable with it's association with Pink Day in LA. My main concern is that eventually more people will start making events named <color> Day in LA and all their messages will be lost, including Pink Day's. They will all just be excuses to have a party and give away prizes. This is a good idea, but in all honesty, it lacks originality and depth. We're not asking you to cancel the event, just change its name and make sure it has no association with Pink Day as Pink Day is tied to Saji and DRGN and we are not a part of this event. Change the name, but keep the same date and time, people will still show up. As far as this wiki page goes, just move it to your new event name using the move tab at the top of the page and presto, you're done. I hope you take this suggestion into consideration, Thanks. --Dragonlord Tony 06:20, 1 August 2008 (UTC)
Hes allowed to call the name of the event to what ever he wants. You can't force him to use another name then Green Day in LA. I actually like that its close to pink day in LA as its easy to remember. Asking him to change the name is sheer disrespect and its a open community, DRGN may not like it, but deal with it. Plus whats the real problem of having <color> day in LA? It names the place, and the colors mean many things, easy and simple. Dominator Matrix 07:05, 1 August 2008 (UTC)
No one is forcing him to change the name, we are simply trying to persuade him to change it. We aren't threatening or attacking him or the event. Also how is asking him to change the name disrespectful? He knew right off the bat and even mentioned it in the very first sentence, that it might offend us, but went ahead and did it anyway. Imo that is Disrespectful. If he would have contacted us first, we would have been able to voice our concerns without having to go through all of this and we would have been glad to offer our help in finding an alternative name or even help plan the event. The only concern about having all these <color> Days in LA is that, eventually, there might be so many that it will turn the whole concept into a joke. Also, no one asked him to not use Green in the event name. We all know that Green is tied to the Environment and yes "in LA" names a place, but you still need to look here to find the correct date and time so just knowing the name of the event will not reduce the number of people coming here to look for info about the event. Our concern is that he is just associating this event with Pink Day more than we are comfortable with. Even in the "Question" section above, he says "Just like Pink Day in LA." We are flattered that he chose Pink Day to base this event off of, but we just wished that he would have made this event more his own. We are also very grateful to the KISS Alliance and for all their help with Pink Day '08 which is why we are trying to avoid as much tension and confrontation as possible since we would like to continue working with them for future Pink Days. You also have to understand that Saji and the guild has worked very hard over the last 1.5 years in planning Pink Day, which is why we might come off as a bit flustered. Again Burning Freebies, I hope you hear our opinions, understand our concerns, and reconsider, Thanks. -- Dragonlord Tony 08:57, 1 August 2008 (UTC)
Dude...it's just a color. He isn't trying to offend you (in fact he even says sorry if he does), but a) his explanation makes sense and b) it's a related color. You're basically saying no one else is allowed to make an event called <color> day in LA, and are trying to monopolize the name which is pretty terrible IMO. Breast cancer and Earth's environment are both pretty big issues and instead of quibbling over a stupid name you should be finding ways to support him and his cause. DarkNecrid 09:20, 1 August 2008 (UTC)
Master Saji, i dont really like those names. Also, I have spent many hours planning the event. Dragon lord, That is a problem. If to many people start days like this, then its origins from Pink day will be forgotten. I understand Saji's concerns, and i dont want him to insult KISS so DRGN lose co-operation with them for the next Pink Day. I attended the most recent Pink day, and throughly enjoyed it. I only wish your event could have been bigger. I am truly sorry that the event has offended you, i am really. But please do not go around to the event and try and spoil everything for attenders who have probably attended Pink day as well. If you do do this, what will they think of you? Will they think of attending the next Pink day? --Burning Freebies 09:34, 1 August 2008 (UTC)
Again, the issue isn't over the color. I mentioned above that we have no problems with him using Green in the event name. The problem we have is it's association with Pink Day. He took an event that resulted from 1.5 years of planning and basically copied and pasted it. We chose to bring up the name because it kind of just seals the deal and honestly, changing it isn't exactly climbing a mountain so we thought it would have been the most reasonable and easy thing to fix. Also, don't get the wrong idea, we think that this event is a great idea, we would just liked to have seen more thought go into creating it rather than just using Pink Day as a template. Also Burning Freebies, we would do no such thing. We would not be so childish as to crash and ruin things we don't agree with. Good Luck with the event and I still hope you will reconsider -- Dragonlord Tony 10:30, 1 August 2008 (UTC)
Thank you for your kind wishes Tony. --Burning Freebies 13:26, 1 August 2008 (UTC)
Saji, i have been informed in a converstaion with Wolfie that he and Blade Radio will not back me, along with the alliance UNLESS i change the name. Bet that makes you happy. They have recommended an Eco day, as long as i dont bring colour into the name. You efforts have been recognised. Again, i am sorry this has offended you, this time i hope you except this apology because i am changing the name, like your wish.

Best wishes, --Burning Freebies 21:03, 1 August 2008 (UTC)

"Again, the issue isn't over the color.", Yeah I suppose that's why you're complaining about the color and people are refusing to back him because of a STUPID COLOR. This is so dumb. People are refusing to help out with a major world wide issue and an event about it because HEY MAYBE HE COPIED AN EVENT (because you know, obviously Pink Day in LA came up with that event structure first.). Bunch of heartless people imo. If you really cared about the issue you wouldn't be getting stuck on such an unimportant point. He's not "wasting your time" or "making Pink Day in LA look bad" or anything like that. Instead, people are denying him support just over a stupid name. That's great, nice to know you people don't actually care about the issues at all and just care about protecting your stupid name. DarkNecrid 05:52, 2 August 2008 (UTC)
Thanks Necrid. Good point. However, because i am unlucky, Wolfie works very close to Master Saji so i have change the name if i want Blade involved, which i do. I also have to delete several other things because of upsetting Frozenwind. Ah well, ill get lucky with an event without Blade radio interfering someday. --Burning Freebies 13:15, 2 August 2008 (UTC)

Heh, lets boycott Pink Day for this asshattery. The environment is a large issue this day and age, and forcing a change by talking to higher ups is just low.71.48.177.77 10:11, 6 August 2008 (UTC)

Mr Unsigned IP address-person, I do hope you're not trying to compare what issue is bigger than the next. As they say in politics, that's the first step to asking the voters to dig your grave and toss you in the hole. It is my understanding that the issues that have plagued this event so far have not been based around whether saving the environment is important. They appear to be to do with other things entirely (see my post below). --User Angel 1.pngBunny - Angel talk 10:37, 6 August 2008 (UTC)

Who will be there?[edit]

Everyone sign here so I can say hello to you. I'll be in district 2 as Wayne of Might. (edited to district 2?)

  • Vael Victus Pancakes. 00:23, 1 August 2008 (UTC) sorry, social plans :X) why do I even bother typing <\3 Vael Victus Pancakes. 23:58, 6 August 2008 (UTC)
  • I dont think this event will get 4 districts, but --Burning Freebies 09:27, 1 August 2008 (UTC)
  • I'll definately be there.. at least, if i'm free.. Oh, i'll just try to be there! I'd love to help with planning and stuff too, if that's alright :) Chilli 13:29, 1 August 2008 (UTC)

mainly for mesmers?[edit]

umm, arent rangers mostly in touch with nature, therefore green?--User Fire Tock sig.jpgFireTock 15:59, 2 August 2008 (UTC)

Sorry about misleading you there. This event is for all proffessions, its just that mesmers armour is mostly green. If rangers have armour that is naturally green, i am unaware of that, sorry. By the way, if you are a Ranger boss with the green surrounding aura, that counts as green. --Burning Freebies 14:57, 3 August 2008 (UTC)

The Event Page is Inaccurate[edit]

Hello Burning Freebies. As I understand it, you left a message on my talk page inviting me to contribute to your event. Although I thanked you for the invitation and asked for more information at the time, I didn't commit to being listed as one of your "helpers" so I would appreciate if you would remove my name from your helpers list. I think you have simply misinterpreted my reply. To be fair, I didn't say no, but I didn't say yes either. I would never give someone a flat out "no thanks" when it comes to someone asking for help with an event, I enjoy event organising more than the game itself so I would always answer in an encouraging manner. But just because I didn't say 'no' outright seems to have given you the impression that I was giving you a green light to list me up as staff for your event.

As I have not been given the oppportunity to contribute to anything to the planning of this event, and haven't been involved beyond the quick disucssion on my talk page, it is therefore misleading (and false) to state that I have been involved in planning this event. Furthermore, sadly and perhaps due to the lengthy discussions in the above talk history, it appears that Blade Radio and the [KISS] Alliance are declaring this event as a non-starter and neither wish to be involved or support it going forward. I have it on good authority that Wolfie and the [KISS] alliance leader are equally unimpressed with your recent escapades on the [KISS] forum (I don't think threatening an Alliance Manager trying to give you advice was the best way to go dear), and you have managed to get yourself kicked from the [KISS] Alliance itself as a result.

I believe the underlying issue behind this event going sour boils down to one simple thing - I think people listed on your page felt as though they were being used to run an event to support an issue that, politically speaking to truly make a difference towards, gamers would need to switch off their power-using PC's for a day and go outside. This event made no 'tangible' difference to the environment, if anything it adds to the problem by dragging people into a virtual world where they can further neglect the real world they live in. (I apologise for my next example Master Saji) The Pink Day in LA was a perfect example of an event that actually made a tangible difference - by clicking on certain links on the Pink Day website actual people received free breast scans. Gamers therefore actually 'made' a difference at that event.

It seems to me that statements on the wiki page such as "The KISS alliance, creators of the event..." are simply falsehoods, as this was an event totally of your own creation.

I therefore suggest, to Wiki moderators, that this page is retired for the time being as the content does not appear to be a fair representation of the individual people, or groups, being labelled as "involved". To leave the page active will mislead the community and perhaps continue to ruffle feathers. --User Angel 1.pngBunny - Angel talk 09:52, 6 August 2008 (UTC)

Hmm. We really aren't doing much for the environment at all. ;-; Vael Victus Pancakes. 23:56, 6 August 2008 (UTC)
