Emote or a special aura for GWAMM or PvE achievements in general?[edit]

moved from User talk:Linsey Murdock

So far, 2 PvP titles have special emotes, but none of the PvE ones do. GWAMM, being the pinnacle of PvE achievements, feels a little underappreciated, when the best you can do is display it and flaunt some chaos gloves to hopefully draw attention to yourself so that people can actually see it. While flashing a "bambi" in town (especially beginner ones) makes everyone drop their jaws "OMG! HOW COOL! WHAT IS THAT? I WANT ONE!" Have you guys at all thought about giving it ("it" being just the top rank, the whole title, or any other PvE titles, for that matter) an emote or an aura along the lines of the divine? The Rainbow Phoenix used to be largely PvE-only and was a small reward for the max titles ranks, but now that has changed. Elite armor used to be PvE only, and that has changed also. It feels like even though the PvP community is much smaller, more often than not they get the fancier rewards for playing (including having to "pay" for things like runes and skills only once when unlocking with faction, higher rewards for zquests, repeatable zquests on the same type of char rerolled, emotes, easily obtainable zkeys = more chances on everlasting tonics and some rare weapons plus yet another emote title, etc...). I'm not trying to start another whine about PvP or a fight PvP vs. PvE thread, I'm only wondering if there are any plans to share the unique reward of special emotes with the PvE community. You guys have been really busy with the last update (and did an awesome job), but now that you have some "breathing room" were any thoughts like that floating around the studio that might get some attention now? I guess you can always just be keeping it a secret, like some of the awesome new stuff... User Rose Of Kali SIG.jpgRose Of Kali 18:55, 30 April 2009 (UTC)

They already gave you guys a Pve Title Together with an Easy to obtain Title Lilondra User Lilondra Sig.png*panda* 19:05, 30 April 2009 (UTC)
The zaishen title is not strictly PvP, as it can be bought via farming or you can even use up the XTH (which is available to everyone) to get keys. I do agree that KoaBD title could be jazzed up... however, I am happy to strive for GWAMM as it's own reward. -- Alaris_sig Alaris 19:07, 30 April 2009 (UTC)
(Sorry, no clue what panda is talking about, especially in the context of being available to PvE and not PvP, or vice versa. Zaishen is still a mostly PvP title, though available to PvE for an insane amount of gold. The hero rank she mentions has been maxed only by few people in the 4 years of GW existence... I would not call that "Easy to obtain." And she blatantly ignored my bold text note.)
Playing PvP and exchanging your faction for zkeys infinitely surpasses waiting for XTH rewards, which are available to both types of accounts and can be next to nothing if you're not good at betting, which requires some involvement in PvP and possibly observing and understanding what's going on, instead of blind betting on the names you like. How long does it take to get 5k B faction versus 4k gold? (Keep in mind, relatively few PvE players actually farm elite areas or do power trading... while most self-respecting PvP players will atleast occasionally GvG, HA and TA, and not limit themselves to puny RA or HB - there is no such thing as "casual" PvP - you PvP, or you don't because you get your butt handed to you every time.) This is also another example of giving PvP players something from PvE (ability to earn PvE gold by selling the keys instead of using them, or using the keys to get rare weapons and sweet/alchohol title) when they didn't have it before, along with elite armor, weapons, and now pets.
So far, everything that was unique to PvE (save the actual missions and exploring) has been slowly made available to PvP, but not vice versa, and PvE has hardly anything unique left (GWAMM and BMP?), while PvP does (even down to moddable PvP weapon skins from Tolkano that otherwise only appear on obscure crappy-stat greens). But again, please, don't turn this into a debate on which is better/richer/overpowered/etc, my question was not about that, and zrank is certainly not an alternative. I asked if the concept of having a PvE title emote/aura/other type of unique recognition not easily available to PvP players has been brought up in the studio and if it has a chance of fruition, which wiki users can't possibly begin to answer without speculation and guessing. Oh... >_<, and I'm going to end my WOT here, I've said all I had to say, I think, so please don't start another one yourself. User Rose Of Kali SIG.jpgRose Of Kali 20:19, 30 April 2009 (UTC)
Strangly enough, the idea was started on Guru (I finally went back to looking at their suggestions for laughs) asking if it's possible to add a Boss Aura onto characters when they show the GWAMM title. I don't wan an emote, but instead would love to see that idea brought about if possible. -- Azazel The Assassin\talk 21:22, 30 April 2009 (UTC)

I've been a GWAMM since december 2007 and I DON'T want another freaking emote for something that isn't even worth it. Thank you. (Ate of DK 14:18, 1 May 2009 (UTC)).

I'm sorry you wasted your time, to each their own.
A boss aura can make some armor look really weird, but I'll take it over nothing. Something a la Divine Aura (but different, of course), or a non-spammable emote, are another option. Regardless of what is implemented, it should only activate when you have GWAMM selected as your title, or have a separate check box for it altogether, so that you have the option to turn it off if you want to for whatever reason. Either way, something cool like that would be... cool. :) I guess it should have been expected that this would turn into suggesions as soon as the question was asked, so sorry about that. I've always wondered why, in a pvp game, pvp accomplishments get more recognition. ~Shard User Shard Sig Icon.png 05:25, 2 May 2009 (UTC)

MOB WARS, COMING SOON TO A STORE NEAR YOU!
Sorry, I just had to.
The PvP side of GW has always gotten more recognition; this isn't new. Remember back when there were real tournaments with irl prizes? Nothing like that's ever been devoted to PvE. When people say that it's a PvP-oriented game, I think they're standing on solid ground, considering the way that the game's been viewed by the company throughout it's history. In the present, that may be more debatable, but history dictates here, imo.
I mean, look at the old Favor system. Look at what gets your name displayed to every player in the game. Look at what's predicted in the XTH. The unlock packs in the store. The name of the game, even. There's been a tangible emphasis on PvP, and I don't think "Well, there's PvE, too!" is really a sound argument against the fact that GW is a PvP game.
Also, to respond to Rose, running. Runners were charging 30k/person for Stygian Veil during the zquest, and it's a 30-minute run. No amount of PvP pays like that. To compare, I farmed some zkeys during the HA event. It took us ~5 minutes to roll characters and get the quest, ~2 minutes to form up, ~10 seconds to clear Zaishen, ~1 minute to get a match, ~2 minutes to clear UW, ~5 minutes to get another match, and ~2 minutes to win that one, at which point we raged. After that, it was another ~2 minutes to accept the quest reward and put the coins/keys in storage, and then we had to repeat the process. So that's around 15 minutes for 10k balth, which is 2 zkeys. Since we could do that twice in half an hour, that's a grand total of 4 zkeys per half hour! That was with the fastest farm build I know, and it still doesn't compare to making 150k (37 zkeys at 4k each, which is being generous) every half hour from running PvE. So to say that the Zaishen title is out of range of PvE players... I'm going to have to disagree with you there. =/ User Raine R.gif Raine - talk 07:21, 2 May 2009 (UTC)
Can we just let Linsey respond and let this wait til then? Otherwise it's going to degenerate into Walls of Text over PvE vs PvP. =/ DarkNecrid 07:33, 2 May 2009 (UTC)
The Titles are set up perfectly in the game, don't see how adding a Emote to GWAMM will make you or the game better, I'm sorry you find this to be an inconvenience.76.121.95.90 09:27, 2 May 2009 (UTC)
The IP above me wins this argument.71.163.170.121 09:29, 2 May 2009 (UTC)
Of course this could be said about every title and emote currently ingame (the pvp rank isn't used as it was intended anymore), neither of those make you or the game better (asside from pve skill-progress). They are nice additions however. And I haven't seen a good reason why anyone would oppose (and don't start with the dev's time put in). --Ellisia talk 11:22, 2 May 2009 (UTC)
If anyone needs proof that GW is a pvp game, read the box it came in. Just because pvp is imbalanced doesn't mean GW is a pve game. ~Shard User Shard Sig Icon.png 19:49, 2 May 2009 (UTC)
Reading my box it's a PvX game, because it's talking about fighting monsters AND triumphing in tournaments, and that it's your choice what you do. Oh, and also that my skill and not the time spent in game will decide my fate. And that it doesn't have a monthly fee. I don't get your point :/ — Poki#3 My Talk Page :o 20:05, 2 May 2009 (UTC)
