I went to RA in the last couple of days. I went as a Mo/A, using a build that I made:
Zealous Benediction.jpg Reversal of Fortune.jpg Guardian.jpg Dismiss Condition.jpg Shield of Absorption.jpg Dark Escape.jpg Return.jpg Holy Veil.jpg
Went into RA. Had a good team; me, Me/P, A/E and another Mo/E. The Mesmer ran a Power Block build, the Assassin ran the old-time Moebius-Death Blossom-Moebius-Critical Strike, and the Mo ran a PnH prot build. At first I thought that we won't have enough DPS, but I was wrong. We raised havoc. We simply butchered other teams, getting to 9 Flawless Consecutive with only 1 battle that was rather hard. My build worked great. It had healing with protection, so instead of redbarring like an idiot I prevented the bar from going down; that is what makes Protection Prayers so great. Anyway, we wen't to TA, and lost to an original and good team. We said gg, because it acutely was a good game (almost a tie), and we all went to RA again.
I got a mediocre team now. A/W (you can guess), VoR mesmer, and a Ritualist that I didn't see that he was doing anything. We won first battle, I dunno how, and lost the second.
3rd time is the super charm? No. Wen't in with people who actually had good builds, who were not gimmicky. D/P, R/Mo with a pet, and Me/Rt that I didn't have a clue what he did. We were facing this: A/W, Mo/W, N/A and E/Me, all having abusable builds that were gimmicks. Normally, if this was up to your skill and your bar, we would have won. But no, we got butchered. Time for the butchers to become the butchies. They almost flawlessed us, except that I wanded the E/Me to death. They said gg, all's good right?
No, all is not good. Useully, in MMORPGS, if you win, you had a brain and good skills. If you didn't, your either in a bad mood, distracted, or you have no brain nor good skills. In Build Wars it doesn't. You need to Ctrl+C Ctrl+V, and cram 1-8. You get rewarded for that. Balthazar Faction, TitlesGrindles, Alliance Faction, lots of strippers etc. But if you run a build who is good, but not gimmicky, you lose, 99% of the times, because you don't get rewarded for skillful play. You get rewarded for running overpowered crap. So why should people run original builds if they can easily Ctrl+C Ctrl+V? because they want to win, and feel like they win. If I would EVER run a gimmick build, and win, it would feel like an empty victory, like I don't deserve it, but then again, all I get at the end is 4 people saying gg.

After those failures, I decided to go in again, after a while. Who knows? Maybe Ill get lucky. I was delusioned. Opposing team had 2 monks, 1 Elementalist, and 1 W/N, with a nice Headbutt-Plague Touch build. I removed my pre-veil, because there was no Hexer. My team, got solod, by the Elementalist. He did something like this:
Searing Flames.jpg Searing Flames.jpg Glowing Gaze.jpg Searing Flames.jpg Searing Flames.jpg Searing Flames.jpg Glowing Gaze.jpg. I love balance. Isn't it fun for a party wide burning, and then a party wide 100 damage, with almost no Energy stress at all? Hurray for balance!

Been a while since I posted. I went to RA lots of times, but was too lazy to edit.
Anyway, got back again, with the same build. This time I get a Rt/P which is a Spirit Strength ritu (oh I am surprised), a Mesmer who I don't exactly know what he did, and a A/D scythe with Onslaught and no self heal.
First battle, they charge into the fire in Burning Arena or something like that, and lose 50% of their HP. I somehow managed to heal them, but I wen't down once and so did the Rt/P and Mesmer. The A/D didn't res. So we had to wait. We somehow managed to kill the 2 E/Me, monk and Assassin that didn't realize that Wastrel's Collapse needs me not activating skills, so he just started Wastrels-Falling-Horns-Falling-Twisting, lost all his Energy, and didn't do any damage. Next battle we faced preety much the same people, as Random Arena is random, and we won flawless. We continued that way, until we got to Fourth Battle. So far, flawless except for first battle. We faced 2 VoR, a R/Mo with one of the only viable ranger builds, and a Hammer War that thought he was wielding a sword. Of course, I got 500 damage for playing the game, by the <sarcasm> incredibly underpowered Visions of Regrets and Backfire </sarcasm>, and I wen't down. I waited, and nobody ressed. The Mesmer got killed, nobody resed. We died, and the A/D shouted "ZOMG N00BZ WHY DIDN'T YOU RES I'M RANK 6 YOUR ALL NOOOOBZ" when he brought no res himself.

Conclusions[edit]

  • Every battle has a minimum of 2 incredibly stupid people. e.g.: Tank Warriors, people who don't know that Mirror of Ice got nerfed, people who don't know that Smiter's Boon got nerfed, people that go Melee, attack people, and then try and become backliners.
  • VoR is halleriously overpowered.
  • So is Palm Strike.
  • Monking can be fun, but people tend to blame the monk if they die, without thinking that they could have caused it
  • RA is flooded with people who don't bring a res, and then bitch about not getting ressed, or res the monk when he is the only one left while other people have res.

Maybe I should post here each time I go into RA...
