Tyria[edit]
Ascalon, pre-Searing[edit]
In the few days before the Searing, Valentein was recruited by Sir Tydus into the Ascalon Army. He was paired with an old friend by the name of Corell, currently serving as an Ascalon City Guardsman. The two were among the unit that defeated Vatlaaw Doomtooth.

Ascalon, post-Searing[edit]
Just prior to the Searing, Valentein was inducted into the Vanguard and placed in command of his own unit. Including his old friend, Corell, Valentein's unit also consisted of an Ascalon Scout by the name of Tameka, and a divine healer named Matthew.

Sadly, during the scouting mission based from the Great Northern Wall, Corell sacrificed his own life to halt the Charr horde for the few moments that his allies needed to reach the shelter of the Wall. Calhaan, once a comrade of Corell, agreed to join Valentein's unit in his stead.
