I hate red links in the upper right. 216.187.245.204 16:05, 6 October 2008 (UTC)

Fair enough, but unregistered users are currently not allowed user pages. They're allowed talk pages like this but your User:216.187.245.204 page will eventually get deleted. If you don't like the red link then feel free to register and get an account.- TheRave User TheRave sig.png (talk) 16:08, 6 October 2008 (UTC)
I'm that 75.whatever dude that refuses to register. I'm just at a coffee shop right now. (Trust me, no one uses the internet here for anything other than google; I used to work here.) And is there really anything wrong with putting a friggin comment on my userpage? I mean, damn, it's not like there's actually anything there. :/ 216.187.245.204 16:11, 6 October 2008 (UTC)
The main reason for not allowing unregistered users to not have a userpage is, as discussed before, anyone could have that IP and therefore can claim rights over the userpage. Fair enough not wanting to register, but you have to give up your right to a userpage.- TheRave User TheRave sig.png (talk) 16:15, 6 October 2008 (UTC)
As I argued on the 75.etc talk page, the odds of actually losing one's IP are pretty low. (That said, I'm now at a panera, where there's a
good chance someone else will try to edit wiki from this IP, so I'm not gonna argue the point... on this IP.) 64.241.37.140 17:29, 6 October 2008 (UTC)
The chance may be small but it is there. With a registered account that chance is (for all purposes) removed. Also you mentioned that you didn't want to register because you wanted to remain anonymous. Yet registering gives you more anonymity since your IP is hidden.- TheRave User TheRave sig.png (talk) 17:58, 6 October 2008 (UTC)
If I weren't able to edit from three different IPs at will, I'd consider making an account... but I don't want to log in, because the entire point of my remaining logged out is to support anonymous users. (Can you tell I use /b/?)
Also, there's a small chance that one would share one's account with multiple people. Does that mean one's logged-in account isn't allowed a userpage? Cause I'm pretty sure the odds are about the same... 64.241.37.140 19:26, 6 October 2008 (UTC)
But if one shared one's account, that would be with one's permission. Whereas sharing IP, it could be anyone.- TheRave User TheRave sig.png (talk) 19:34, 6 October 2008 (UTC)
Speaking of completely unrelated things, the US economy might recover within the next month if the government can figure stuff out. 64.241.37.140 19:35, 6 October 2008 (UTC)

This is the discussion page for an anonymous user who has not created an account yet, or who does not use it.

We therefore have to use the numerical IP address to identify them. Such an IP address can be shared by several users. If you are an anonymous user and feel that irrelevant comments have been directed at you, please create an account or log in to avoid future confusion with other anonymous users.
