I expect pvp assassins blow was blocked for having a dumb name more than anything. Skull crack is probably blocked because they don't want you to have a char name the same as a skill name. It has a lot to do with context you have to remember. --LemmingUser Lemming64 sigicon.png 01:00, 4 May 2009 (UTC)
they don't want you to have a char name the same as a skill name nope. thats not true, but A Sticky Operation with seamen in context is pretty vulgar --adrin User adrin ecto sig.png 01:03, 4 May 2009 (UTC)
You are really pushing this to the absolute limits of unreasonableness. Why don't you just stop playing the game if you find everything and everyone associated with it so offensive? This is a fight you aren't going to win, no matter how much you cry. --Wyn's Talk page Wyn 01:14, 4 May 2009 (UTC)
Wynthyst, it's on my personal userspace, i've done the right thing by not spamming this on gaile's page. I hear the argument, if you hate this game, why play it? constantly. I don't hate this game. I think it's fun awesome and has great promise. What i hate is how it's being handled by Anet, and their constant hypocrisy on rules and regulations --adrin User adrin ecto sig.png 01:34, 4 May 2009 (UTC)
Hi wyn, it's obvious you <3 anet, and you are blind to everything including logic and reason except anet is always right. Now do us all a favour, and show yourself out of people's userspace. You are being really naive here. You can't change what people think, and please do not overstep your boundaries as a sysop to attempt to sway people's free thought, especially when it doesn't violate policy. Oh wait, you are going to abuse rightfully throw your "exercise admin discretion" card. Adrin, be careful now....152.226.7.213 01:49, 4 May 2009 (UTC)
Not at all, I just think it's ridiculous to keep crying about something that isn't going to change. I call that being realistic, not naive. I have expressed my opinions as well when I think ArenaNet has made an error, but I don't continue to rail against it, I don't come up with absolutely ridiculous grounds to find something offensive or inappropriate, or attack and make a general nuisance of myself to the staff and community. As for me "showing myself out" talk pages belong to the community, not the user, and as a member of the community, I have just as much right to post my thoughts and opinions here as you or anyone else. --Wyn's Talk page Wyn 01:59, 4 May 2009 (UTC)

If the link to this page is titled Anet's hypocrisy, people should know what to expect no matter what it is. I don't wanna upset anet/wiki users by putting this in public space, but I wanted to share opinions with people who agree/disagree with me, with it being their descision to read it. --adrin User adrin ecto sig.png 02:07, 4 May 2009 (UTC)

I find it funny when you "rail" at people who continually "rail" at anet. It's really ironic. Also, I have as much right to tell you to shoo off, as you did to adrin, so please stop contradicting yourself and handing me your arguments with their counters. 152.226.7.213 02:12, 4 May 2009 (UTC)
In my opinion all you are doing is finding extremely marginal links to things. Lets start analysing, Holiday Blues, how on earth is that remotely suicidal, it's more about people being depressed during winter and suffering from SAD, I have never heard it ever being used in a suicide context. all of the -blow ones, seriously blow has more meanings than BJ. also anything with Head in it you have added, seriously, what the hell is on top of your neck, oh i know. A sexual innuendo! --LemmingUser Lemming64 sigicon.png 02:13, 4 May 2009 (UTC)
I admitted in the start some were a stretch, but if you want to analyze, look at some of the ones that I did not stretch for. Also, my sin PvP Assassins Blow was for blowing enemies up. Holiday Blues sacrifices 100% health because you're sad. Make a character named Staff Head Lover and see what happens. I love 30hp staff heads, but it has a 2nd meaning. --adrin User adrin ecto sig.png 02:17, 4 May 2009 (UTC)
I am sure you are pretty clueless. Let's do some enlightening: the whole point of this page is to highlight how anet has been terrible banning names that "extremely marginal links to things", as so kindly stated by you. The fact that they ban stuff that are no more suggestive than quite a number of their content they implement is an accurate measure of their double-standardization. 152.226.7.213 02:19, 4 May 2009 (UTC)
I disagree, PvP assassins blow was removed for being a silly name that slags of all assassins you fight in pvp. Staff Head Lover has one major sexual implication, Staff Head on the other hand is in a completely different context and has no sexual implication to it at all. Can I ask, is English your first language? Also to the IP address poster, please do not continue with personal attacks, I have not been rude to anyone here, there is no need to call anyone clueless. Thank you --LemmingUser Lemming64 sigicon.png 02:21, 4 May 2009 (UTC)
I love how you say, "Is english your first language?" and then follow up with dont do personal attacks. LMFAO --adrin User adrin ecto sig.png 02:22, 4 May 2009 (UTC)

100%←% Sacrificeblah Energyblah Activation timeblah Recharge time Spell. Sacrifice 100% maximum Health. All nearby foes take 50 damage, and you bring the Holiday Blues to this location. For 45 seconds, foes within the area suffer -15 Health degeneration.

That is not an attack, it is a legitimate question, a lot of users here are not first language English speakers, I was enquiring to determine if it was the case perhaps you were misunderstanding somethings. If you take not being a native english speaker as being an insult then I apologise, but I expect a large percentage of the world would see nothing wrong with that. --LemmingUser Lemming64 sigicon.png 02:25, 4 May 2009 (UTC)
Lol yeah ok, thats why my whole page is in english. Yes, my primary language is english. That defense is very similar to when Shard asks, "Are you retarded?" But I accept your apology anyway. --adrin User adrin ecto sig.png 02:28, 4 May 2009 (UTC)
FYI poke's userpage is in english, though I am pretty sure he is a native German speaker. so that example doesn't really hold up. I would like to think asking if someone is retarded and if someone natively speaks english are quite different. --LemmingUser Lemming64 sigicon.png 02:30, 4 May 2009 (UTC)

I think it's just that alomst everybody on this site (especially the sysops except for Auron) loves ANet and thinks they can do no wrong. Mini Me talk 11:43, 4 May 2009 (UTC)
Thats not really fair Mini Me, I have a great deal of respect for Anet and I'm not going to cry about the game as after all it is a game and they can do with it as they wish. If they mess it up too much, I will however not be purchasing GW2. I however, like many of the sysops and other users on this wiki, do see some of the errors and contradictions in Anets policies. I myself think PvP balance is a joke and needs fixed, I like the concept of zquests and zcoins however the pricing and rewards are completely wrong and needs fixed, I think HM needs completely reworked as at the moment its just plain old stupid and was done in the laziest way possible (inherent speed buffs and upped levels instead of increased AI and actual mission difficulty = FAIL) and I also agree with Adrin to a very small degree that anet does block people for stupid shit which makes no sense, for example blocking someone for having a name like spear chucker when they put paragons in the game, or blocking people for referencing suicide when all the blood magic is, is self harming. I don't agree with alot of the things in his list as I think they are too much of a stretch however I do think a few of them he has a point with. So no mini me, broadly labeling all sysops as anet yes-men is wrong. The problem with Adrin however is that he starts off his points in a reasoned manner but when they don't go the way he wants he gets frustrated and throws his logic out the window and just becomes a troll, which is a shame, as if he kept calm he may actually make more progress in the points hes trying to make. Further to this, continually trolling the anet staff cause you dont like a block, isnt going to make them change their minds, all its doing to do is get alot of the wiki community annoyed as alot of people are tired of seeing the same "white wasabi hate" and "woe is me and shard" spouted again and again just cause of someones personal issues with Anet. It's not that people think he doesnt have a point, its more the case that people dont care if he does or not as it doesnt directly effect them. -- Salome User salome sig2.png 12:07, 4 May 2009 (UTC)
Well then maybe I should change it to "some of the sysops". I'm pretty sure that people agree with me on this.

vow of silence?[edit]

It's a female dervish with her finger over her lips, as in the sign of silence. There is nothing even remotely inappropriate about this, and it has been in many cultures around the world for hundreds of years.
If you're trying to make a list to prove ANet are hypocrites, every single point must be a strong one. Putting a bunch of riffraff on your page is just going to make people ignore you. I'd suggest removing all the bullshit that isn't actually inappropriate and just go for the things that aren't politically correct. -Auron 00:59, 6 May 2009 (UTC)

"Granted, I am stretching some of these, ..." It's for the LOL and how possibly dirty your mind can be.--8765 01:25, 6 May 2009 (UTC)

The problem is, there's a point where it's no longer stretching. It just becomes dumb and unfunny to a point where it no longer supports the original purpose of the list. "White Mist" is stretching it, "vow of silence" is just totally unrelated to anything remotely bannable. -Auron 15:19, 6 May 2009 (UTC)
Auron, as usual, is correct. There's a difference between stretching something (OMGSTRETCH, INNUENDO? MOAR LIEK, IN-UR-END-O, AMIRITE?) and just tossing something up there for nearly no reason.-- User Vanguard VanguardLogo.pnganguard 15:28, 6 May 2009 (UTC)

"Ear Bite - Harmful." So is Decapitate and Sever Artery... In fact killing people with hammers are pretty harmful and illegal too. Maybe Cavalon needs a court to put luxon players in, so the kurzick can take legal action against them for invading Fort Aspenwood every now and then. --Cursed Angel Q.Q 00:55, 23 May 2009 (UTC)
I found another one while playing the game, It's the name of a boss at the end in the Fort Ranik mission. And that name is Rrrack Whitefire wich can be seen as a Sexual Innuendo. Btw The reason i'm joining this, is because I think their naming policy is to strict, i'm Belgian and i'm not used to such a degree of censorship. Because if they applied the same rules while making the game, the game would be illegal, because all we do is kill stuff and steal what they left behind. There should be a boundary but they are goeing to far. Qaletaqa 01:38, 23 May 2009 (UTC)
tbh, you're missing the part where guildwars actually is a game, so your points about killing and stealing being illegal are pretty dull. and adrin is missing the part where auron said "every single point must be a strong one", atm that's around 1/8 of it... --Cursed Angel Q.Q 18:10, 23 May 2009 (UTC)
I was exaggerating but i'm not missing the point where Guild Wars is a game, they are, i'm just beeing as rediculous with my points as they are with their points in the naming policy.
  • Reference illegal drugs or activities.
  • Make inappropriate references to human anatomy or bodily functions.
  • Reference sexual acts or real life violence.
Those points are in the naming policy, and even they are not following them, look at Enadiz the Hardheaded wich is a reference to real life violence. I just wanna point out that everyone can be offended by a name and thats why I think their naming policy should not be that strict. The Naming Policy is the only thing that i'm bothered with. Example: "Jack The Stripper" would probably be banned because of the next two points:
  • Reference sexual acts or real life violence.
  • Reference certain real-life people that may cause distress (e.g. Hitler).
But I do believe names referring to "Hitler" or major religious figures should be banned or any real obvious names that are intended to offend people. But many just want a funny name so people can laugh about it, like "Butthole Mctigger" wich was banned, just ask Adrin it was his name. Also if Anet and/or NCsoft went by "every single point must be a strong one" then I wouldn't be here, and I would just be playing the game and sometimes see a funny name. I wonder what would happen if I use the name "I Love Tofu". Qaletaqa 05:35, 24 May 2009 (UTC)

Lul[edit]

You have to kill creatures and fellow humans in the game to progress, surely killing things is worse than the names of the skills you use to kill them? I really doubt a lot of people think there's a lot of pointlessly rude stuff in GW that should be changed. smøni 02:31, 23 May 2009 (UTC)

The poiont being people have been banned for their choice of names or the language they use... this page is to show the double standard of following one rule but it is largly ignored when they themselves use names and art inappropriatly... some are a streach but others are blantiant MrPaladin talk 14:06, 27 May 2009 (UTC)
