Guild Wars Wiki talk:Elections/2008-10 bureaucrat election/Brains12
I don't get it. Backsword 00:38, 12 October 2008 (UTC)
I don't know if sysops are supposed to be neutral or care what we think about NC when they take actions in favor of an user or another. So while other older users can post snipe and condescending comments on user talk pages, new users here get the short end of the rope when they are not the ones doing it. I don't agree on how you have dealt with that in my case.
Thus this experiences can lead any NC customer to think that NC is not giving care in the world on how customers (or potential customers) are treated here, too bad the potential answer that could come from them is that they are not responsible for anything here.--Wealedout 02:46, 12 October 2008 (UTC)
- I haven't had the best relationship with Brains12, but how does his interaction on Noxify's page show that he's abusing his power or displaying a bad attitude? I think it's fairly neutral. And he's right, it is being disruptive to the wiki, which is his job as sysop. --JonTheMon 03:02, 12 October 2008 (UTC)
- (Edit conflict) @Shadowfog, your example of Brains' interaction with a user who has, from the moment he started editing this wiki, gone out of his way to disrupt, troll, violate policy, and disregard warnings (not only from sysops, but from the community at large), shows an amount of restraint that is but one reason he is such a great choice for not only the sysop position he holds, but the Bureacrat position he has accepted the nomination for.
- @Wealadout, this wiki has a purpose, which is to document the game of Guild Wars. This is not a forum, or a soapbox from which any dissatisfied player can feel free to rant and rave, which for some users, seems to be the only reason they are here. Taking some strong discretionary steps to refocus on the purpose is hardly something that should be discouraged within this community, and especially within the ranks of the admins. Any editor that works to positively contribute to the purpose of this wiki is welcomed, and encouraged by Brains who is not only generous with his coding knowledge, but actively contributes to the betterment of this wiki and the information contained on it. -- Wyn 03:11, 12 October 2008 (UTC)
- It's no secret that Noxify was doing all that. A simple link to the page where how Noxify could take action would had suffice but Brains12 nor you could do such a simple task.--ShadowFog 03:28, 12 October 2008 (UTC)
- Sure, but Noxify was trolling with his immature comments using "lol" and "GG AURON". And Noxify already "took action" so there was no reason for him to gloat on this wiki. - Vanguard 03:32, 12 October 2008 (UTC)
- The entire point of noxify's posting on the wiki was to antagonize me and troll others. He wanted as much attention as he could possibly get, hence him posting a non-issue on the admin noticeboard. -Auron 03:35, 12 October 2008 (UTC)
- Vanguard, can you say what statement he wrote on that post that would be NPA? I'm sure you are referring to other posts that have some NPA, so if he was a controlled person he would just say that Auron is an stalker in Guild Wars and that would been enough. Too bad he escalated too much, anyone been stalked like that in GW will surely be mad like him.--ShadowFog 03:50, 12 October 2008 (UTC)
- NPA doesn't always have to equal Trolling. He was purposely stirring up drama upon a subject that doesn't concern the wiki. How are you not understanding this?- Vanguard 03:52, 12 October 2008 (UTC)
- Vanguard, I already stated:"It's no secret that Noxify was doing all that.", focus.--ShadowFog 04:02, 12 October 2008 (UTC)

Let's try not to drift too far off-topic, folks. This page should be for discussion of Brains12's merits as bureaucrat, not a rehash of Noxify vs Auron. - Tanetris 04:03, 12 October 2008 (UTC)
Nothing against Brains but I hate the "Despite the fact this is the only way to youre not allowed to discuss anything about what Anet could do better" Wiki certainly wont go to hell with brains leading it but i'm not to happy with it Lilondra *poke* 15:59, 12 October 2008 (UTC)
In case you didnt get it Izzy barely reads skill feedback page and if he would he wouldnt listen to it.He still thinks that making the game balanced will cause the game to lose to many members. What he forgets is that the noobs will QQ a bit and after a while be happy to but i dont think this page is supposed to be a discussion about him or any other mod well youre not a terribad bureaucrat (i cant imagine what would happen if super igor would become one Oo) but I dont rly think you only ban ppl that deserve it or delete comments that should be deleted Lilondra *poke* 16:54, 12 October 2008 (UTC)

For those who like how Brains is doing his role as a sysop:
- He's one of the most active sysops concerning controversial matters, IMO. I think he's also the sysop who has acted the most at Isaiah's talk page, and also worked the best there - actually removing discussions that need to be removed, giving warnings when they need to be issued, and overal keeping it under control. Given how well he has handled himself in those somewhat problematic matters, I think he is reasonable enough, not to mention knowledgeable enough about the wiki, to be a bureaucrat.
For those who don't like how Brains is doing his duties as a sysop:
- Bureaucrats are still limited, in day to day matters, to having less powers than a sysop does. A bureaucrat is often limited to only doing sysop actions if there's no sysop available at the moment, otherwise they must defer to someone else's judgment. Given how being a sysop lasts until the person resigns, and how Brains has shown no sign of leaving the wiki anytime soon, one of the few ways to lessen how often he acts as a sysop is to promote him to bureaucrat.
See, in the end everyone wins. Brains for buraucrat. Erasculio 18:43, 12 October 2008 (UTC)
- Cheers Brains. Didn't know we hit the ground running with some pre-discussion! ;-) --Antioch 19:07, 12 October 2008 (UTC)
- Erasculio brings up a really important point. We would lose the only sysop doing the dirty discretionary work. (:P) That's not good. - anja 19:09, 12 October 2008 (UTC)
- What Erasculio brings up is eerily right. Like Anja says, he's the main one doing the dirty work around here. o_O -- Wandering Traveler 03:46, 13 October 2008 (UTC)
- I'm also torn. I have absolutely no doubt that Brains would make an excellent Bureaucrat, but given that a) there are other candidates I think would do an equally good job, b) ArbComms and, to a lesser extent RfAs, are few and far between, meaning that Bureaucrats are rarely called upon to act in their official Bureaucrat capacity, and c) Brains is one of the few (/the only) Sysop keeping Izzy's talk page under control, I'm wondering if perhaps Brains would have a more positive impact by remaining a Sysop. *Defiant Elements* +talk 03:52, 13 October 2008 (UTC)

- While it may be true, I dislike the above line of reasoning. Assuming that even very active sysops would like to become bureaucrats once, every time you use that arguement, you give them an incentive to become less active ... --Xeeron 10:05, 13 October 2008 (UTC)
- Maybe we could change the system so we don't lose a sysop when we get a bureaucrat...? Erasculio 11:30, 13 October 2008 (UTC)
- Keep in mind that I'd still be able to help keep Izzy's talk page clean as a bureaucrat; the only problem would be if blocks are needed, but that's a minor one -- we've only blocked one person for that, and we have the noticeboard if it is necessary in future. That said, if I were to "cease activity" on Izzy's talk, I'm sure more sysops could deal with it. Wyn and Poke, as two examples, also help with the cleaning up. (As a side note, I find it rather amusing that the main reason for keeping me as a sysop is because of Izzy's talk :P).
- By the way, if you do gain me (or another sysop who isn't Aberrant) as a bureaucrat (and lose some of me/them as a sysop), remember that you'll be regaining Aberrant; it's not a total loss :P -- Brains12 \ talk 11:42, 13 October 2008 (UTC)
- Hmmmm... fair 'nough, fair 'nough... Brains for Bureaucrat! :D (And yes, let it be a lesson to you that going above and beyond the call of duty will result in nothing but hardship) ;). *Defiant Elements* +talk 16:30, 13 October 2008 (UTC)

Nope, bad choice for bcat imo. Racist and not a nice person. just my personal thoughts. --'ÑöẊĭƑý 20:28, 14 October 2008 (UTC)
- Care to back that up with a shred of proof and make it somewhat of a legitimate argument? Good luck though, because my "racism" is non-existent. -- Brains12 \ talk 20:39, 14 October 2008 (UTC)
- Well, you sure have issues against trolls, but i am not sure if that qualifies as "racism" or "speciesism" :P.--Fighterdoken 20:41, 14 October 2008 (UTC)
- I will vote from Brains because he has helped me a lot recently. He has shown me he can be trusted with the power of a sysop, and im interested to see how things would work if he became a Bureaucrat. --Burning Freebies 08:38, 18 October 2008 (UTC)
wasnt he already one ? and brains just ignore noxify its not like he said anything usefull in the past well like he EVER said something usefull or constructive Lilondra *poke* 18:44, 18 October 2008 (UTC)
Obviously[edit]
Backsword, can I ask you why you think it is "obvious" to oppose me? Reasons to come to such a conclusion would be useful if you want to inform others of this obvious-ness, and also if you want me to improve on it. -- Brains12 \ talk 14:32, 22 October 2008 (UTC)

- Ok, I decided to be nice and explain my vote (I encourage others to do the same). Pling, you recent actions... have been... less than savory. Your new editing style (and you can deny thats it is different but imo it has changed) comes off as a bit rude and "lawery" at times... Don't get me wrong you're a great sysop, I just don't think you would make a good bcrat at this point in time. :( --Shadowphoenix 14:59, 22 October 2008 (UTC)
