I'm rather annoyed by the admin's comment "Too many images, please read the guild page policy" because the policy has no set number for guild images. Not to mention there's another guild, which I won't name, that has twice as many on their page. So I can't have 3 images on the page? I think it's because I named the files 02 03 04, and because I accidentally double posted some while moving them around. In any case, I would prefer an explanation of exactly how many are allowed before outright deletion -Jaime Lannister Ahh, Leader of [Ser]

I understand the need to not overflow Guild Wars-Wiki with an excess of images. I think many of us would be angry if the site lagged because guild pages were slowing down the server. And if the consensus goes against me, then I’ll take the pictures down. On the other hand, the threatened deletion of our page is based on the line "Too many images, please read the guild page policy." Firstly, ex post facto, that wasn’t in the rules when Wyn cited it. Second, the provided explanation of this line just makes it more confusing, because the Guild’s page has the same number of images as Wyn requested. In that case the argument is over the content of each image, and not the number. 1) Guild Banner 2) Members striking pose 3) Guild Hall 4) Cape. Why does it have to be only these? So long as they’re guild related, and don’t violate copyright regulations, and follow the rules explicitly stated in the guild page policy, then it shouldn’t matter if it’s a picture of a guild hall or a picture of two people in their guild hall. The requirement for a guild banner is too arbitrary; what if I were to say the center picture was our banner? “Members striking a pose” is also problematic; what counts as a pose? Is it only /emotes, and if so why? What if I were to say the left picture was two of us striking an attacking pose? Why isn’t that applicable? The aforementioned guild hall picture has the two of us in the guild hall, so technically that should count as well. As for the cape, that’s our thumbnail, which I’m having trouble changing at the moment. Like I said before, I’m willing to take the pictures down if the consensus goes against me, for it seems Guild Wars-Wiki policy is determined as such. Ultimately I think that there should be looser guidelines for acceptable images because essentially it's just a game. -Jaime Lannister Ahh

Unfortunately, this is not about consensus, this is about policy. The policy is very specific about what images you can have on your guild page. You are welcome to create a guild gallery subpage for all your other images. If you wish to try to change the policy, the place for that is GWWT:GUILD just submit a proposal. I will tell you that it took 3 months of discussion to gain consensus for the policy as it stands now, so I would recommend you remove the excess images while you are working on that. - If you really want explanations ok. Cape image is part of the infobox. Guild hall image is part of the Guild expansion template, or if the guild chooses to post a different picture of their hall while describing the services available. Guild banner, because many guilds create a logo banner for other websites. Single image of guild striking a pose = group picture of entire (or at least large number) of guildies. Battle images, win/loss images, miscellaneous images and individual character images should be placed on a guild gallery subpage and linked. This policy was developed to create a reasonable layout/template for guilds to follow so that guild pages are easily read by anyone visiting them, without the clutter of miscellaneous images that are relatively meaningless to anyone outside the guild. -- Wyn 20:59, 29 January 2009 (UTC)
