Shrines and Heroes[edit]

Just ran this mission today. Sent in heroes and they were attacked by the guards. Thankfully our build was self-sufficient, two live players and 6 heroes and the heroes were able to hold their own and cap the shrines. But the info on the page is incorrect. 173.57.170.58 04:52, 5 September 2016 (UTC)

Shiro and Lich stay passive, the shrine guards attack your heroes if you enter inside compass range of them, which you likely have while capping the closest portals. I've done this mission dozens of times and it works just like the article says. Jeree95 (talk) 09:46, 5 September 2016 (UTC)

Mission Bug[edit]

After capping all the altars, killing the Lich and Shiro....nothing happened. The quest list still told us to kill them both. After waiting for 10 minutes, still no mission completed. Anyone else encountered this bug on HM? --Arduinna talk 19:40, 6 May 2008 (UTC)

Yes. Shiro aggroed me and i killed him, but the lich never turned hostile. This was in HM Mat Cauthorn 17:04, 6 October 2008 (UTC)
Just had the same bug. Lich just wont turn hostile. Tried recapping shrines. going in and out. nothing seems to work :/ (Ixillius 19:46, 1 July 2009 (UTC))
Damn it - just happened to me too. For the record, I capped the shrines by hero-flagging before engaging Shiro and the Lychee, then used Shiro's unfeasibly large agro-radius to kill him this side of the gate. Went to see the old dead geezer and he just stood there. Breathing. Maybe some research before a bug note? --snogratUser Snograt signature.png 09:44, 14 July 2009 (UTC)
This happened to me too. In NM. I used the hero-flagging technique for shrines and skipped the shirokin on my way there. http://img297.imageshack.us/img297/5280/screenshot20090903at100.png 68.181.241.42 05:09, 4 September 2009 (UTC)
Similar experience in NM: I skipped the Shiro'ken, hero/henched the shrines, killed the Lich, re-capped shrines after killing the Margonites, then killed Shiro after luring him outside the gate. In my quest log, Killing Shiro and the Lich Lord isn't even shown, crossed out or not; the only thing I had left to do was "Travel to the temple of the Six Gods." Major suck. Threid 07:03, 1 November 2009 (UTC)
I'm actually experiencing this right now :( Both Shiro and Lich are dead, all shrines capped, and I'm running around doing absolutely nothing Sirakou 02:05, 18 December 2009 (UTC)
Just finished the mission in HM, bonus and everything and Lich Lord is bugged.. gg ANet... 02:50, 9 April 2010 (UTC) Vennie
Maybe if this game wasn't so buggy and shitty it would be more fun to play
What a fucking joke. Spent half an hour making sure i didn't over aggro, closed the portals, capped all the shrines and destroyed Shiro in under 30 seconds and now the Lich won't turn hostile. Thing is, he did turn hostile briefly i'm sure but it must be something to do with aggroing him and/or Shiro without letting the dialogue finish. GG Anet. Fucking waste of time. How has this not been fixed yet? 90.212.250.251 18:52, 1 June 2011 (UTC)
Dear anet, again, fix your damn bugs! --The preceding unsigned comment was added by 112.201.201.245 (talk).
Lich at the Temple
2019. The Lich is still friendly. WTF?!?! This is 2019, already! Can you PLEASE FIX this, already? WTF?! (sorry for using 'already' too much!)--104.200.153.78 01:25, 20 January 2019 (UTC)

2023 and this bug still happens. 107.122.81.51 05:32, 30 December 2023 (UTC)

Allied Lich bug[edit]

Hello all, as I have encountered the 'allied Lich bug' again today, I at least capped a neat screenshot of him at the bottom of the Temple, check it out, maybe you'll like it, too :) --The preceding unsigned comment was added by Pajda (talk) at 07:55, 2010 December 28 (UTC).

A Q. On the lich-bug[edit]

If you complete the bonus, but run into the lich-ally bug and are forced to do the mission again, are you already 'locked in' as having completed the bonus, or does it need to be done during an actual completion of the entire mission. --The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:Remmybax (talk).

This is a Nightfall mission, so you have to complete the mission in order for the bonus to register (this is not necessarily true for the Zaishen quests associated with it, I'm assuming you're referring to the normal bonus credit). -- FreedomBoundUser Freedom Bound Sig.png 19:50, 18 May 2011 (UTC)
ANet has not yet fixed this nonsense? I just ran through this Bull sh!t three times. Every time, the Lich is friendly! I am about to destroy my computer over this! This sh!t is unacceptable! Fix this nonsense, already! I am beyond pissed off! --75.86.37.121 00:23, 17 January 2021 (UTC)
Nope, the bug is still there, it also happened to me a month ago or so. Scribeton (talk) 04:40, 17 January 2021 (UTC)
Was this while going into the shrine? or letting the heroes cap the shrine??TikkaLeFem (talk) 08:19, 17 January 2021 (UTC)
Destroying your computer seems like the prudent action. Kthxbai, Steve1 (talk) 13:44, 17 January 2021 (UTC)
Oh I had similar feelings in the past about doing same. TikkaLeFem (talk) 22:17, 18 January 2021 (UTC)

Lich changing back to ally?[edit]

Right, so I got to the Temple with no problem, got my team to cap 3/5 shrines, using the method where you send your heroes in but don't go in yourself. They got stuck, and I couldn't get thme unstuck using the flags, so I decided to go in. I got them out, and both the Lich and Shiro were attacking, and Shiro followed us back. We killed him and capped the last 2 shrines, only to find that the Lich had went back to being an ally in the Grenth shrine. ~~

It's a lot easier to allow your own toon to die (far away from the shrine area entrance) so that you can see things from the perspective of one of your heroes. In the unlikely event that you do get stuck after doing this, you can easily maneuver to get them free.
If you are trying the trick, the one thing you absolutely do not want to do is to go in yourself. Remember: you are exploiting a game mechanic by sending the heroes past Shiro/Lich, so it's not at all surprising that following them later is going to cause things to go haywire. — Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 20:34, 4 June 2011 (UTC)

new bug[edit]

Did it the first time, litch was ally, did it the second time neither of them spawned. fix your 8 yr old game Anet.

As i wrote that Shiro magically spawned and killed and the mission ended. The litch did not spawn and it was compelted. --The preceding unsigned comment was added by 24.26.105.114 (talk) at 21:03, 2012 June 25 (UTC).

Clearly this bug is old, as in being reported since 5 years ago (IPs usually don't bother to scroll up). I have archived this talk page retaining related topics for further research. User Yoshida Keiji Signature.jpg Yoshida Keiji talk 03:04, 26 June 2012 (UTC)
I do this mission several times whenever it comes up as the ZM (7H or PUGs) and I've never encountered the problem. It's either incredibly rare or it takes a narrow set of player actions to cause it to happen. Unless people can successfully explain to ANet how to replicate the problem and report it on the official forums, I don't see how the dev team is likely to be able to fix it. – Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 06:14, 26 June 2012 (UTC)
It would be interesting to know if this bug can happen under any circumstances. If it only happens when using remote controlled heros, ANet may well see this as AI exploitation and leave the bug in place as a wrist-slap. Caveat exploitor? --snogratUser Snograt signature.png 11:06, 26 June 2012 (UTC)
Yoshida, im sorry but its laughable aboout how much of a nerd you are. Thanks for the laugh im glad I have a life, i don't enjoy editing wiki's im sorry. anyways, this bug is different than the others explained above, the litch did not spawn at all, i did not have to kill him and i completed the mission with jsut killing shiro when he finally spawned. --The preceding unsigned comment was added by 24.26.105.114 (talk) at 21:00, 2012 June 26 (UTC).

Shrine blessings[edit]

I must disagree, you get the prof-specific blessings for your secondary prof as well. 67.248.86.3 10:33, 5 May 2014 (UTC)

Gate of Madness stucked Shiro.jpg
well if you look at the top of File:Gate of Madness stucked Shiro.jpg - the guy taking the picture is the ranger/monk - and so if what you suggest were true then there would be Cloak of Faith Cloak of Faith, Aura of Light Aura of Light, and Monk of Dwayna Monk of Dwayna (primary) active. There are only two of those three active on that character, and they are the non-primary ones (Cloak of Faith + Aura of Light). So based on this picture alone, I'd have to conclude that the current documentation on the mission page is correct. Feel free to provide a link to a screenshot proving otherwise though. I'll see if I can find another screenshot on my pc to provide secondary confirmation. -Chieftain Alex 12:00, 5 May 2014 (UTC)

Allied AI pathfinding at the end[edit]

My Heroes doesn't seem to be able to really find their way in the Temple of the Six Gods. They often get lost between shrines, forcing repeated flags when going for the bonus from the outside, and sometimes they just won't return to you afterwards. That last thing happened to me, with 3 of them getting lost and refusing to return, and does seem to correlate with the mission-won't-end bug since I triggered the boss dialogue when they were still inside. VectorSomething (talk) 15:26, 10 May 2024 (UTC)

The method I generally used for that mission was flag your team to center courtyard near the two bosses, then flag them to any shrine; but never abaddon, once shrine is captured, send them back to center courtyard. Rinse and repeat the other shrines. After the last shrine, again flag your team back to the center court yard then flag them to you. Do hope this is helpful.
