Talk:Shadow Meld

Does Death's Retreat really fit here? It's not a (maintained) Enchantment, it heals, and it doesn't allow returning to your position where the spell was casted. Only thing that relates it to Shadow Meld is that it is casted on an ally. But that's not enough imo, because then you have to add Return, Reversal of Fortune and Mending and etc too. Removing it for now. 84.87.168.39 18:22, 27 September 2007 (UTC)

awsome pve skill[edit]

=]

This is the coolest way to talk to an NPC in an explorable area Firoas. talk 12:09, 17 July 2008 (UTC)

Trivia[edit]

I think it should be added to trivia that this skill is likely inspired by the wow skill shadow meld. Once Great King 21:47, 7 April 2008 (UTC)

(flame me not)

That would be extremly dumb since it works completely different. Beside it's just english it doesn't have infinite amount of words. --Alistair Cookie Ritualist-icon-small.png 23:43, 4 May 2008 (UTC)

Also: Shadow Meld =/= Shadowmeld... Paddymew 14:24, 16 May 2009 (UTC)

multiple?[edit]

Can you Maintain shadow meld on multiple allies. If you can that is freakin awesome!--Shards of Narsil 20:34, 30 August 2008 (UTC)

Sadly you can't, because it's a spell cast on yourself and not an ally, otherwise that would be viable. I tested this, so yeah.--72.148.167.222 21:28, 10 September 2008 (UTC)

dying[edit]

I wonder, when you cast this shadowstep and then die, do you return to your original location from where you casted this spell? Techically, i think this is true, since if you die, the enchantment ends. But i haven't tested it yet. (forgot to sign ^^ 82.176.174.199 12:43, 22 January 2009 (UTC))

just tested it out and no it doesn't--70.54.138.131 18:05, 13 February 2009 (UTC)

You can't shadow step while dead :) Paddymew 14:25, 16 May 2009 (UTC)

if[edit]

2 guys stand next to eachother, maintaining this, and both get stripped by an AoE spell such as Chilblains, do they change places with eachother? ---Chaos- 16:31, 29 January 2009 (UTC)

No, they go back to where they were when they activated Shadow Meld. <>Sparky, the Tainted 13:09, 25 May 2009 (UTC)

But, if two assassins Shadow Meld to each other at exactly the same time they completely disappear. Forever. FleshAndFaith 19:01, 18 April 2010 (UTC)

noooo!

Technical question[edit]

If you recast this when you still have it from somewhere else, do you shadowstep back there? And where are you melded to then by the second SM, if you do shadowstep? To the position before the shadowstep or after? 95.119.48.65 14:12, 22 May 2009 (UTC)

If you cast this after already being enchanted by it, then the second cast will act as if you had never casted the first one. (Just like AoD) You shadowstep as normal and upon end you return to the position before the shadowstep as normal. <>Sparky, the Tainted 13:35, 25 May 2009 (UTC)

Note is incorrect[edit]

The first note is incorrect, as long as there are no major objects (like walls) between the place where you stopped maintaining the enchantment and the place where you used it you will return to the place where you used the skill regardless of the distance.--78.3.95.11 03:15, 18 May 2010 (UTC)

I'm 99% sure the note is correct. If you are outside of compass range of the location where you originally cast SM, you only shadow step back as far as the compass range, in the immediate direction of that original location. FleshAndFaith 01:45, 9 August 2010 (UTC)
Yes, it works that way for all shadow steps from which you can extend that far. --Kyoshi User Kyoshi sig.png (Talk) 01:48, 9 August 2010 (UTC)
I know how most shadow step skills work but this one if different. You can test it your self if you want, just make sure there are not major objects between the place where you stopped maintaining the enchantment and the place where you used it (I recommend Crystal Desert, it has big and open areas).--78.2.139.226 20:50, 17 August 2010 (UTC)
Just tested, using heroes as guide markers, even at 2 compass lengths away, you still return to original position, DO not revert main page not unless you test yourself and find otherwise. (Unsigned comment)
