User:Craw/Skill Balance Concepts

This page arose as people in my guild started talking about what they'd do if they could do their own skill balances. It's not serious in the slightest, and is just a forum for open discussion among friends.

Warrior Warrior[edit]

Axe Mastery[edit]

Axe Attack. If this attack hits, you strike for +1...16 damage. If Swift Chop is blocked, your target suffers a Deep Wound for 20 seconds and takes an additional 1...16 damage.

  • Dprai Suggests: 1 second attack speed, adding crippled in addition to Deep Wound, and raising damage to 1...24 and 15...35, respectively.
  • Reasoning: This is to compensate for the unreliable, conditional effect.
  • Craw Suggests: .25 second attack speed, raising damage to 1...24 and 1...20.
  • Reasoning: Changing the attack speed so it's an almost instantaneous strike rewards skillful play and has minor utility in basic adrenaline gain. Quick attack fits the theme as well.

Axe Attack. If this attack hits a foe suffering from a Deep Wound, you strike for +1...8 damage, and that foe becomes Crippled for 15 seconds.

  • Dprai Suggests: Lower adrenal cost to 4a, raise damage to 1...20, set it to trigger on a foe suffering from any condition.
  • Reasoning: Way too expensive, wanted to make it a viable snare.
  • Craw Suggests: Adding 'Otherwise, that foe suffers cracked armor for 5...15 seconds.
  • Reasoning: It's good, unless the deep wound is removed, which can happen fairly easily. Besides, if the foe has a deep wound, chances are you're trying to kill it. Adding the other effect means that against foes without DW, you're getting a half decent effect.

Axe Attack. If this attack hits a foe suffering from a Deep Wound, you strike for 1...16 more damage and that foe suffers from Weakness for 20 seconds.

  • Dprai Suggests: Lower adrenal cost to 5a, triggers if it hits a foe following another attack skill (instead of DW), bump damage to 1...24, also inflicts deep wound for the 20 seconds
  • Reasoning: Too expensive, I like the theme of having the axe already in the target & twisting it.
  • Craw Suggests: 'deal either an additional 1...16 damage or your attack deals no damage and your target takes 50 damage, whichever is higher'.
  • Reasoning: It goes through some protections, which gives it broader use, while keeping somewhat with the theme.

Axe Attack. If Lacerating Chop hits, you deal +5...17 damage. If it strikes a knocked down foe your target suffers from Bleeding for 5...17 seconds.

  • Dprai Suggests: Also triggers vs. moving targets, inflicts deep wound & cracked armor for 5...17 seconds.
  • Reasoning: Because KD is hard for a warrior to achieve, I aim to make it easier to achieve, and more rewarding when you do achieve it.
  • Craw Suggests: As with Dprai's, but bleeding instead of deep wound.
  • Reasoning: Dprai's concept isn't bad, but it's too powerful. I tone it down a smidge while aiming to keep with the theme.

Axe Attack. If Whirling Axe hits, you strike for +5...17 damage. If it is blocked, Whirling Axe is disabled for 15 seconds.

  • Dprai Suggests: Remove the 'disabled' part.
  • Reasoning: There's not a lot of reason for it.
  • Craw Suggests: No objections to Dprai's idea.
