This page documents odd things found in the official Prima strategy guide. Some are potentially true, some are obviously untrue.
"Q: What is a good profesison with which to start? A: A Warrior with a Monk secondary is a very effective beginner class"
Mentioned as henchmen: Valyr Morghulez, Edren Merrick
Henchmen are mentioned as being able to level up while out adventuring with you.
"Five reasons to be a Mesmer" lists 4 things. I think this is also in the instruction manual, but I don't have it handy.
When fighting the Lich, players are warned to make sure they don't die, as it takes 4 times longer to resurrect while on the bloodstone.
There's a "city codes" section, telling us how some cities are abbreviated. None of them really came to fruition, at least in part because most of them are unimportant outposts like Quarrel Falls (QF) or Beetletun (Be). Droknar's Forge and Amnoon Oasis were apparently not important enough to have a code.
There's a list of dye prices! Blue: 200, Purple: 240, Orange: 270, Red: 365, Green: 240, Yellow: 275, Silver: 380. No black is listed.
"New drops are being added regularly"
What we now call inscription mods, and are unnamed and unremovable in Prophecies, are referred to as "bonuses".
Some names of foes that were changed, not including names that may be written as they are to distinguish them other foes with the same name, such as "Crystal Desert Wurm": Krytan Plant, Wilds Beholder (all of the riders seems to be "Beholders"), Wilds Burrower, Krytan Skale, Rift Dryder (Terrorweb Dryder), Wilds Arachnid, Stone (Stone/Hulking Stone Elemental), Crystal Desert Earth, Wilds Animal (drops Explorer's Trophies), Ruins of Ascalon Ghost, Krytan Imp, Ruins of Ascalon Golem, Rift Golem (Dead Collector/Thresher), Krytan Animal (drops Hunter's Keepsakes), Ruins of Ascalon Animal (drops Hunter's Trophies), Shiverpeaks Animal (drops Icy Hunter's Trophies), Cold, Krytan Troll, Krytan Human (drops leather belts), Rift Burrower, Rift Ghost, Shining Mantle (officer/standard) (drops White Mantle Badges/Emblems), Dream Knight (one of those horsemen in UW)
On gold items: "There are one to three gold drops in an area, and if you want them, go after the highest monsters (think "boss" and "far end of the area" and you'll be right more often than wrong)"
Weapon mods: Increases damage +10-15% against a hexed foe, X Slaying: +15-30% damage vs. creature type
"There are minor, major, and superior runes for all attributes (except Soul Reaping)"
In the table of foes, there is are notes indicating if the foe is likely to drop an armor, axe, bow, dye, focus, gold, hammer, rod, shield, staff, or a sword. Not all creatures have gold or dye listed.
Monk is abbreviated "Mk", Mesmer as "Ms".
Listed, but don't exist, as far as I can tell were not renamed: Charr Flame Artifact Level 8 and 150 AR. Forgotten Guide, Obsidian Hound, Drifting Cloak, Angry Spirit, Ghost of Bob, Haunting Spectre level 0 150 AR, Misery's Company, Temporal Vortex level 8 necro ghost, Wings of Illusion, Fallen Ghoul, Undertaker, Underworld Lord
Removed skeletons: Archer, Captain, Cleric, Elite Guard, Footman, Hellfire Mage, Savage Sniper, Skeleton Tortuerer
Glint's armor is listed as 80 (which is correct), as a mesmer, level 25, and doing 110-130 slashing damage in melee.
Undead Lich is listed as a level 24 warrior, while Vizier Khilbron is listed as a necromancer.
Ulrik the Undefeated is listed as having an altered 410 health, and being level 9.
Crystal Guardians are listed as having +40 lightning AR. In reality, they have -40 blunt.
Level 3 Hulking Stone Elementals that are elementalists are listed as having -120 fire AR, level 3 Warriors as -40 blunt, level 7 eles as +40 lightning.
Grasping Ghouls are listed twice, one with +20 physical AR (this is listed for all warriors it applies to, and does indeed apply to Grasping Ghouls), and one with health altered to be 200.
Some bosses are listed as having special armor modifiers that their "base creature" does not. Some elemental bosses, for example: Buhr Colstone (doesnt exist), Clob Stonearch, Cobble Poundstone, Crush Kill, Drub Slingstone, Flint Touchstone, Grit Slingstone, Igmom Quivcaver list -20 cold AR.
Marntra Doomspeaker is listed as having +80 fire AR.
Mursaat and Jade bosses are listed as having 139 AR.
Bladed Aataxe damage is listed as 68-100 blunt damage, health altered to 940. Our page says 80-250 and 1045 health.
Many friendly NPCs are listed as having 150 AR: Evennia, Markis, Ventari
What we call Riders are called Windriders. As far as I know, "Rider" was something made up for lack of an official term.
There are two Rotscales listed, a level 17 ranger, and a level 24 necromancer with monk skills. The latter has "-30 lgt" armor. I don't think "lgt" appears anywhere else, and I assume it is another term for holy.
Henchmen stats:
- Stefan: Only at certain levels is a warrior's +20 physical armor bonus listed, level 20 does not have it listed. Damage at level 20: 12-17.
- Orion: Weapon damage changes from light, to fire, and to dark at level 20. Does 11-22 damage at level 20. +20 physical armor bonus at level 3.
- Alesia: +30 elemental armor bonus at level 3 and level 20. Weapon damage is fire until level 20, when it is light. Level 20 damage is 10-16.
- Reyna: Certain levels have +20 physical armor listed, not present at level 20. Level 20 damage is 14-24.
- Dunham: +30 elemental armor bonus except for level 17 and 20. Level 20 has +20 physical armor bonus. Weapon damage changes from dark, to fire, to dark at level 20. Level 20 damage is 11-22.
- Little Thom: +20 physical armor at level 17, +100 fire armor at level 20. 5-24 damage at level 20.
- Cluade: Weapon damage from dark, to fire, to dark. At level 20 does 11-22 damage and has +30 elemental armor.
