Warrior[edit]Key Ideas[edit]When playing a warrior, you want to focus on two main things: attacking and taking the aggro. To do this, it is necessary to have maximum armor level, fully modded armor, and a good weapon set (this can be your choice of a hammer, axe and shield, or sword and shield). Concentrate your efforts on absorbing damage and charging your adrenaline. Leave the large spikes and AoE to the other professions. Having the best skills is important to any profession, including the warrior. If you're going to invest in a warrior, the best campaign(s) to get are Prophecies and/or Factions. Below are skills to consider using once they become available: Core

Ranger[edit]Key Ideas[edit]Rangers are not tanks, so do not act like one. Rangers are (duh) the main ranged attack profession. The only time, if ever, you should go up close is if you are setting traps on clumped foes or using a touch skill. Your pet should really be your only melee aspect. Ranger bows have different ranges and arcs. It is a good idea to have one of each bow- longbows are great for general use (they have the longest range); recurve bows are great for interrupting due to a low arc; and flatbows also have a great range. Keep in mind your role and you skillbar when selecting equipment and positioning yourself in battle. Rangers can take advantage of all 3 campaigns, but some are less useful than others depending on what you want to do as a ranger. If you want to use a very offensive bow build, invest in Prophecies and/or Nightfall. If you want to interrupt, invest in Facions for some great skills. If you would like to spread some nasty conditions, get Prophecies. Beastmasters are best off getting Prophecies and Factions. I've listed some skills to think about when selecting an expansion. Core

Monk[edit]Key Ideas[edit]You are the healer. Chances are, you're one of only two healers in a group of eight players. This means that you need to be well equipped and focused, especially in PvP. You will generally be the main target unless your tank takes the aggro, so try and keep your distance. Always carry a staff, general wand and offhand set, a high energy set (such as a weapon with Live for Today), and a defensive set (sword/spear and a shield). Energy is very important to a monk. Always equip radiant insignias and runes of attunement. Monks are expected to be the best healers or protectors, and not very often is being a smiter tolerated. With that in mind, a monk would find the best skills in the Prophecies and Nightfall campaigns. Core

Elementalist[edit]Key Ideas[edit]Elementalists are great damage dealers. Their AoE spells hit multiple targets very hard, making them the designated killers of the group. Energy is the most important thing to an elementalist, so invest in runes and high energy weapon sets. Core

Assassin[edit]Key Ideas[edit]Assassins are wonderful at spiking. Their attack chains are capable of killing an enemy within seconds if not interrupted. However, they are often considered to be the "glass cannons" of guild wars. They deal large amounts of damage, but assassins can be very vulnerable. Very few skills offer protection in combat, and the ones that do require a fair amount of energy. When making a build for an assassin, one must include: 1) a series of dagger attacks; your main spike. This is usually a lead attack-> off-hand attack-> dual attack. 2) some skill that either increases attack speed or the chance to land a critical hit. The assassin's primary, Critical Strikes, has plenty of these skills. Critical hits are the player's form of energy management and make the spike more deadly. 3) a form of defense or a recuperation skill. Critical strikes and Shadow Arts are perfect for finding these kinds of skills. Factions

Ritualist[edit]Key Ideas[edit]Ritualists serve quite a few purposes. They can deal significant damage with spirits, protect their party members, buff melee attacks, and heal. Channeling magic is the main attribute for damage dealing, and is the most common among ritualists. Communing is the attribute that contain the most spirits. Not only do the spirits in communing deal damage, but some also protect allies. Communing also has many skills that buff spirits. Restoration magic is used for healing. There are not many spirits in this attribute, but it heals almost as well as a monk. Spawning Power increase your summoned creatures' maximum health with each rank. Spawning power also provides some enchantments that heal, remove conditions, deal damage, and provide energy when creatures are created. Factions
