Is there a way to stop subcategories from being sorted alphabetically? - BeX 16:18, 23 June 2007 (UTC)

To the best of my knowledge, no - it will always sort alphabetically. You can modify the sort key used; but then the Category Index at the top won't work for navigating the sub category lists.
But, I'm also not a big fan of having both articles and subcategories in the same category level. To me, it would be better to migrate the articles/images to one or more subcategories - or move all the subcategories to a higher-level parent category. --- Barek (talkcontribs) - 16:59, 23 June 2007 (UTC)
I just changed the sort key seeing as theres only one sub-cat for this so far. As for the other thing, I'm indifferent to the issue I suppose. I don't know what was decided in the end about category trees. - BeX 17:09, 23 June 2007 (UTC)
Actually, there's a second subcategory under "F".  ;-)
I'm not certain either as to category trees. But on this particular category, it contains so much that I think additional subcategories would be helpful - as it stands, this one is just too large and locating specific images is rather time consuming due to the quantity of them here. IMO, I think the best way to manage it would be to add a variable field to {{arenanet image}} that can be used to subcategories into "ArenaNet icon images", "ArenaNet armor images", "ArenaNet NPC images", etc (or use the format "ArenaNet images - icons", etc). But, the use of such a variable should probably be brought up for discussion before being implemented. --- Barek (talkcontribs) - 17:17, 23 June 2007 (UTC)
I think having separate categories for arenanet concept art, renders, screenshots, icons, etc would be good. - BeX 17:26, 23 June 2007 (UTC)
