Admin noticeboard
Article maintenance

The Admin noticeboard is one way through which users can notify administrators of issues needing administrative attention. While users are welcome to directly contact specific administrators (especially if they are seen to be active), posting here can be an easier and quicker way of ensuring that at least one admin will notice an issue and respond to it promptly. Remember to sign when posting an issue.

Before posting an issue here, consider the following:

  • As this is a noticeboard and not a talk page, please refrain from discussing.
  • Post only issues that require administrative action, i.e. blocking vandals, protecting pages, restoring deleted pages etc.
  • Do not post deletion requests here. Deletion requests should be made by adding {{delete}} to the top of the target page, which will then automatically mark the page as a candidate for deletion.
  • Do not post issues regarding content disputes. Try making a request for comments instead.
  • Mediation requests between users should only be made if a resolution could not be reached between users.
  • For issues regarding the use of this wiki, please see our help center.

In case of vandalism, posting about it here is low priority. Revert it first, anyone can do so. If the vandal created a new page, tag it for deletion. Assume good faith and consider leaving a message on that user's talk page to explain the reason. Post here only if the user has made several disruptive edits and/or persists despite a warning. Always avoid a revert war with the vandal; it is far better to wait until an admin has a chance to intervene.

Creating a new request — vandals
  1. Edit the Vandal issues section.
  2. At the top of the list, use the {{vandal|IP address or username here}} template. Provide a short and neutral summary of the issue.
Creating a new request — non-vandal cases (e.g. user issues, page protection/undeletion, etc.)
  1. Add a new section (+) to the page and enter an appropriate title (without using templates or links) in the subject field.
  2. In the edit field, enter a short and neutral summary of the issue. Use the {{user|ip address or username here}} template to refer to users involved with the case and provide links to important pages or edits.
As a sign of courtesy, also leave a message on the talk page of any involved user.
New account requests
Users will be unable to create an account via the login page until administrators have approved their username.
  1. Edit the New username section.
  2. At the bottom of the section, add a new comment with your desired username and any desired capitalization (e.g. "User:Guild Wars", "User:Guild wars", "User:GuildWars", and "User:Guildwars" will be different accounts). If your desired username starts with a letter, it will be capitalized.
An administrator will get around to adding an exception for your chosen username within a few days.

Vandal issues[edit]

Starting with the most recent vandals.

Vandal (talkcontribs [deleted] • logsblock logabuse filter log)

Started with 2 decent edits, now deteriorating. Steve1 (talk) 13:58, 26 April 2020 (UTC)
Given a time out, thanks. Greener (talk) 14:36, 26 April 2020 (UTC)
Sure thing. The wiki is actually active enough that it might slip thru. Steve1 (talk) 14:37, 26 April 2020 (UTC)

Vandal (talkcontribs [deleted] • logsblock logabuse filter log)

might get lost in recent activity. Steve1 (talk) 17:59, 4 October 2019 (UTC)
'Tis been thumped. Greener (talk) 20:30, 4 October 2019 (UTC)

Vandal (talkcontribs [deleted] • logsblock logabuse filter log)

Keeps creating spam pages. History of the ip is pretty telling if you check the logs.Durp da durp (talk) 21:53, 26 February 2018 (UTC)
Rainith helped take care of it. Thanks! G R E E N E R 22:08, 26 February 2018 (UTC)

Vandal (talkcontribs [deleted] • logsblock logabuse filter log)

Same vandal as before, under yet another IP, has done the exact same edits to all the pages that were being reverted and inverted and whatnot last night, + vandalised Ruine's user page. Might be a good time to protect those pages in question in addition to blocking this IP. Jeree95 (talk) 13:21, 1 August 2015 (UTC)
Done, and thanks. G R E E N E R 14:00, 1 August 2015 (UTC)

Vandal (talkcontribs [deleted] • logsblock logabuse filter log) IP volunteered, just fulfilling a wish. ;) Steve1 (talk) 19:29, 20 June 2016 (UTC)

Vandal (talkcontribs [deleted] • logsblock logabuse filter log)

Norn Female Rit Armour[edit]

Hey again!

Just got new armour for my rit, dyed it white. Thought you might want the image.

Current Norn Female Rit Armour page >

My image >

(boots are dyed black though)

Also the theres a black set in there. --The preceding unsigned comment was added by (talk) at 04:19, 20 January 2017‎ (UTC).

Too bad about the boots! A consistent set of pictures would also be lovely to have ("One of these things in not like the other..."). One of the goals of those pages is to set a high contrast between sections which can or cannot be dyed. The green in the first set of images does just that. Having black be the colour will end up hiding information from the players, even when used in the last set of images. :(
Thank you for the offer of those images, though! G R E E N E R 20:16, 20 January 2017 (UTC)

Remnant talk page in protected namespace[edit]

[[ArenaNet talk:List of personal GW ideas]] can be deleted as was its accompanying page. There is no other way for users to mark it for deletion. - Infinite - talk 14:12, 9 August 2017 (UTC)

Done. -Rainith (talk) 16:14, 9 August 2017 (UTC)

Bought Guild Wars Trilogy on steam and I'm trying to make a new account[edit]

I am just looking to make a new account for the game because I just got the Guild Wars Trilogy pack --The preceding unsigned comment was added by (talk).

Hello! This is the Guild Wars Wiki, which is not connected to your Guild Wars account. While we are happy to allow you to create a wiki account, it won't be able to log you into the game itself. We recommend you visit the official website to register an account, or simply follow the instructions found on the log-in screen in-game to create an account to play Guild Wars. - Infinite - talk 12:27, 11 March 2018 (UTC)

*sigh* disgrunteled banned player[edit] Perhaps protect it for now? Durp da durp (talk) 00:18, 19 April 2018 (UTC)

I'm a few hours late, but willing to bet they've exhausted themselves. Thanks for taking care of things. G R E E N E R 06:15, 19 April 2018 (UTC)

Request unban for User:Konig Des Todes[edit]

At the prompting of several others on GWW's Discord, and directed here by User:Greener, I'm requesting a removal of my permaban. I have two reasons for this request:

  1. I hold the view that the permaban by Auron was extreme for a complaint about GW2W administration practices over disputes (which I still feel was a justified view at the time, albeit immature to make the post). I've often felt Auron disliked me, and find his reasoning suspect given that it's only his word (and his word has, unfortunately, been used to villinize me even this week for behavior over a decade old).
  2. More importantly, however, is the fact that I've noticed several issues (and untapped potential) with GWW where improvement is either needed or useful (for example, there is a plethora of dialogue missing from EotN bounty NPCs, that aren't even tagged as stubs). I've notified multiple others about this, even made public requests, requesting that they bring it up to the more active GWW editors in my stead. Either I get told to request a ban lift, or nothing happens at all.

So for the sake of improving things, and hopefully burying an immature past that no longer reflects the present, I am making this formal request for lifting the ban. 15:00, 16 October 2019 (UTC)

I'm not against this request, people change, and the hope is that we all change for the better. That said, if you are to be unbanned, then it should (IMO) be with the understanding that any sort of rule breaking would result in the reinstatement of the permanent ban. Just my $0.02. -Rainith (talk) 21:07, 16 October 2019 (UTC)
I want to make everyone aware that the timing of this request does raise an eyebrow for me. Very recently a user with strong history of conflict and arguments involving Konig (User:Santax) has started editing lore articles again. I don't want to believe these events are related, however there is the unfortunate precedent that they may be. While I will personally assume good faith, especially considering Konig's expertise in regards to lore and the readiness to provide sources when questioned, I also want to press upon Konig to acknowledge this caution if the decision for the block to be lifted is reached. - Infinite - talk 00:59, 17 October 2019 (UTC)

(Reset indent) As I had said to you off-wiki, the first step in having us look at your ban would be asking the admin to talk about it; and we have.

While the Guild Wars 1 and Guild Wars 2 wikis were separated many years ago, and there was an attempt to treat them as two independent communities, these two wikis have remained tied together through shared lore and editors. In the past, I have not considered off-wiki issues that users have had in the Guild Wars community because my purview, my jurisdiction, my responsibility, was only the wiki. You and I share both wikis, we share both communities, and I cannot ignore that what happens here will affect what happens there.

If this were a case of a decade's old issue, I would be inclined to say that the past can be put into the past. Unfortunately our past can also catch up to us. While permanently banned here, you continued to edit the wiki – even using another account, User:Konig. Your passion for lore has continued to raise conflicts with others on the Guild Wars 2 wiki, and you have had your share of chances over there. We both know you can still contribute a lot to the Guild Wars community, and I would ask that your focus be on the other wiki whose game is continuing to grow and evolve. Show that even when you disagree you can still get along with other editors. We both know you can, and have always wanted, to do just that. Continue to prove to that you can be a constructive presence in the community, and we can return to this discussion in the future.

Giving you access to the Guild Wars 1 wiki would be a reward in spite of your working around of the ban. The right to edit on this wiki is something you will have to earn through building good will in our shared community. Greener (talk) 14:56, 17 October 2019 (UTC)

Fair and expected. As I said, I was mainly prompting this because it was suggested when I brought up places of improvement to others. The same thing with my "flaunting of the ban", which was far from my intention, as the only reason why I did such was because I was ignored or was even outright told to do things myself despite those people knowing I was banned and was left with the impression that no one, even wiki admins who could see the discussion, cared. If I had intent of rule breaking that I would have made a new account or just done an it as an IP.
@Infinite, this had nothing to do with Santax. 17:30, 17 October 2019 (UTC)
Would it be possible to give him editing rights for talk pages? That way he could add stuff indirectly and the few remaining posters could copy it over to the article pages. Not ideal, I know.
Or a tightened Rainith version: Unban him, last chance. One rule broken: Banned again. And no editing of Santax's posts at all (for that he'd need to go to the talk page). Steve1 (talk) 19:15, 17 October 2019 (UTC)
@Konig, I do see how a lack of earlier action to address your edits while banned would seem like tacit allowance on my part. For that, I am sorry. I am far from omniscient, and I did not keep track of your ban here nor recall your edits on User:Konig after the ban had been brought up. I've modified my words above as "flaunting" was inaccurate.
@Steve, unfortunately the options we have on blocking accounts does not allow for that much granularity. Greener (talk) 20:06, 17 October 2019 (UTC)
