Is it broken?
if so, is it anything to do with the "noincludes" on the template's page (put there for the category stuff, I presume?) And why am I asking myself? Think I wiki a little too much --Snograt

Skills 0..12..15[edit]
Hi Snograt, I noticed that you've been putting (at least some) of the skills with a 0..12..16 format (see Burning Arrow). Aren't we using 0..12..15? -Spot 13:21, 7 March 2007 (EST)
- Oh crap - 0..12..15? That's not good - I wouldn't know WHERE to source those figures. I was nabbing the figures from gwBBcode, which I'd assumed were the same as the in-game ranges. I better stop entering them until I am at home and can correlate one with the other. Damn, I entered every single Elite skill that way :( Thanks for the heads-up, Spot (won't stop me altering all the font tags to span style tags though^^) --'Snograt
13:37, 7 March 2007 (EST)
- Aha - I see what I did there. That was one of the skills already in place that I edited the skill ranges. There was a scaling table already in place, and I stupidly took the shortcut of copying the (wrong) figures from there. Now I'm a little more educated, I won't make that mistake again :) Also, I just checked the discussion at Guild Wars Wiki talk:Formatting/Skills#Attribute levels in skill descriptions and it would seem that the gwBBcode ranges are in the 0..12..15 range, so I can continue using them. --'Snograt
14:13, 7 March 2007 (EST)
- Not sure what this gwBBcode is, but I checked the progression of a few skills like Quicksand, and noticed that the green numbers still seem to be using 0..12..16. -Spot 17:24, 7 March 2007 (EST)
- Oh dear. That's certainly not good. gwBBcode is a Guild Wars skill display system designed for forums which enables easy build formatting with mouseover description popups. It's widely used - similar to the system they use on guildwarsguru. See the originator's site - [3]. Problem is, if that is definitely the 0..12..16 format, then I'm likely not the only one making this mistake. I'd better leave a note on the skills formatting page. __'Snograt

- Geez, I seen the latest update and its using the 0..15 so I'm going to start using the ".." over the "..." seen in the game when unlocking skills. I'm one of those who been using the 0...12...16 so it's going to change to 0..12..15 so it'll be less work for you,Snograt. btw Snograt, green is wonderful for the skill numbers just like how it's done ingame.:)--Bane of Worlds 21:54, 7 March 2007 (EST)
- Wow - thanks for the vote of confidence, Bane. I was beginning to think the green idea was just a one-man crusade :) As to the 0..12..15 thing; I'm thoroughly confused. I'm not going to create any more skill pages until I work out what's going on. I just put a note on the Formatting/Skills page - maybe those-who-know-everything will knock some facts into this old head ^^ --'Snograt

- Actually Anja, if you wouldn't mind doing that, it would be great. I edited the code with zero understanding, but used a bit of logic as to what did what. I really should read up on this stuff. Problem is, I don't even know what this stuff is :D I mean I don't know what is wiki code, what's css or whatever. And I think css is a subset of HTML, but that's just guesswork. Any pointers would be much appreciated :) --'Snograt
08:15, 28 March 2007 (EDT)
- Now I did some cleaning, just minor stuff in the code. I replaced all {{pipe}} with |, those are used in templates with ParserFunctions since |'s mess upp parser coding. I also removed all old parameters, those are recognised by "{{{" and "}}}" and only used in templates. I removed the noinclude tag, since I guess your userpage isn't included somewhere so it needs that, correct me if I'm wrong ;) And lastly I just have one thing I didn't remove, and that is the {{clear}} tag, since I don't know if you actually want the text to start below the infobox, or if you want it beside the infobox. Just remove that yourself if you want the text to be beside it, like in the NPC articles :) - Anja Astor 10:30, 28 March 2007 (EDT)

user skin[edit]
Would you be opposed to having your User:Snograt/monobook.css updated to the latest User:Smurf/GuildWars.com skin.css? The reason for this is that the hotlinked external images in the old skin version causes a security issue (see Guild Wars Wiki talk:User page#Custom skin remote links). Also, note that image policy has been updated to include "All images used on the Official Guild Wars Wiki should be uploaded here. Do not hotlink to images on other websites (including the Official site." --Rezyk 16:02, 31 March 2007 (EDT)

Image help?[edit]
Couple of problems with my sig image (). Firstly, as I set it to redirect to my user contributions, I can no longer view the image page (as there's no "redirected from..." link on special pages :/). Secondly, would anyone with some image editing skills care to tidy it up? It's a rip from AC
DC's logo, but I'd like a nice black border around it - at the moment, the top of the image is un-bordered. Only image ed software I have is Fireworks - not much success using that :( --'Snograt

I can't access anything tagged as "Games", so even guildwiki is out. God forbid they ever tag this site. I won't mention my company's name - let's just say they run a subterranean transportation system in the capital city of a major English-speaking European nation ;). We have about 500-odd locations using a variety of PCs running everything from Windows NT (which I'm stuck with), 2000pro and XP. The software is diabolical and the individual user profiles are totally screwed. I just count myself lucky that I can still wiki edit while I'm on nights. --Snograt

Hi Snograt, you said that if i need extra help with my sig to come to you so.... anyway i tried doing this code: <spanstyle="color:navyblue"> The Forsaken<spanstyle="color:navyblue"> One</span but it just said " Invalid raw signature, check HTML code " (or sumthing like that) so idk what 2 do, all i want is my name do be dark blue and bolded... if u can help id much apreciate it. errrm on the preview my name was messed up so: The Forsaken One21:13, 30 January 2008 (UTC)

Not sure where to put this lol you know me and GW Wiki :) I decided to go for Tyrian Skill Hunter for 15th Title and printed off the page with all Proph Warrior Skills on , I thought I had them all as I crossed them off then I killed a boss who does not appear on that skills page ,Smuk Foombool and capped Battle Rage ,the page is http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/List_of_Prophecies_warrior_skills , as you can see Battle Rage does not appear . --The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:Darthbaz (talk).
- That's because Battle Rage is a core skill (meaning, it's from all campaigns). Maybe this article can help you more, since it shows all elites by zone/campaign/proffesion instead.--Fighterdoken 23:41, 13 July 2009 (UTC)

- Ahaha! Er, it's a rapid-fire, auto-barrage bow that goes dittodittodittodittoditto? An upgrade from the standard pew pew. --snograt

You are a perfect example of why they should've made GWAMM harder to achieve. --The preceding unsigned comment was added by 94.169.181.150 (talk) at 10:13, 22 July 2012 (UTC).
- Perfectly correct, but what would lead a total stranger to that conclusion? I'm genuinely intrigued. --snograt

- GWAMM was never about skill, it was about dedication and perseverance... and staying awake trying to play gw pve, which in itself is an accomplishment, but not really a skill-based one. They just threw it in to keep people playing. If you want a skill-based title, you could try comparing champ rank? -Auron 12:23, 22 July 2012 (UTC)
- ^s'right. I never claimed to be good at GW, nor even competent. Time played > skill, in this one, sole exception to the rule. I'm just wondering why the angry i.p. has picked on me in particular - maybe due to the shite I post on Guru? --snograt

- Hi Infi. Haven't played in years, but thanks to covid shielding, I suddenly have time! Just doing an -image as I type. I played the crap out of GW2 for a few years, spent far too much money, then burned myself out so badly I can't even bear to open the client again. I miss all the old wiki peeps too, though. — snograt

- Thanks, Poke. I'm glad that you're still active on these wikis after all this time. It's so sad seeing all these reconfirmations underlining all the regulars who have departed. — snograt

- I’m far away from being as active as we all were during the good old times™ but I try to stick around :) Yeah, it certainly hits my heart with all these fond memories I have with the wikis. But at the same time I see how it is something that is necessary in order to make the current community more relevant. As much as we sometimes would like to, we cannot live in the past *sob* :) poke | talk 14:22, 7 June 2020 (UTC)

"cantha stuck at 98.9 until i can get into jq/fa"[edit]
I saw this in one of your edit summaries and I come bearing good news! With the current available content in Cantha, there is enough map to uncover without ever setting foot in JQ and FA (even the instructional cutscenes are optional). I did it with a relatively new character a few years ago, utilising the incredibly helpful and detailed maps provided by Marc: User:Ruine_Eternelle/Borderless_Cartography_Made_Easy. Of course waiting for the PvP arenas to let you in to run around for Cartographer can be a trip down memory lane, but should you not want to bother with wasting time queuing up for a match of bots versus bots versus you, I highly recommend you give this approach a try. I also particularly enjoy taking my veteran characters out for a stroll to see how much map I could have possibly missed back in the days of scraping every crevice of the maps' edges. Then again, a lot of them don't even exist any longer either! - Infinite - talk 12:56, 17 July 2020 (UTC)
- Thanks for patrolling rc as usual, Infi! Yes, I’ve already got gm carto in Tyria and Elona, and it’s all thanks to Marc’s maps - don’t know how we ever managed without them! Looking at my maps, I can’t imagine that the very few slivers remaining could possibly add up to 1.1%, but if you’ve done it without, it must be true. Maybe it’s that tiny island supposedly unlocked at the end of Winds of Changes (or whatever), plus a small patch just nw of Cavalon that’s driving me insane! I’ve tried to reach it from all three possible zones and don’t get anywhere near it. I’m in danger of burning myself out again too - I did a caravan vanquish all the way from ToA to Diessa Lowlands, but I just couldn’t go on any more. Probably 7 hours plus. Anyhoo, thanks for the nudge, I shall prevail! — snograt

Evaluating the massiveness of your assumption[edit]
I'm pretty certain you are absolutely on point with the Forgotten Fan being added along with the Totem Axe. Wayback machine might even be able to find some fan website documenting this in more detail. But this was one of these earlier updates that added special green drops to non-bosses in Prophecies areas that previously received effectively no attention whatsoever. I remember Ventari's Refuge suddenly being filled with players looking for runs weeks and I think even months after that update. Totem Axes were the chase item, as barely anyone cared for Mesmers back then, but Forgotten Fans occationally would drop on the way as well. —ZerphaThe Improver 22:52, 14 February 2025 (UTC)
- I remember it well. I actually farmed the axes for a while, for no other reason than it was easy! I find it really bizarre that there’s no info on the wiki about their introduction at all. There’s just a breadcrumb trail to The Scribe, which was very brief and had no concrete info whatsoever. It’s great that there are still people like us who are interested in this old game :) — snograt

- OK, so The Scribe did a bit on the Rotwing Recurve Bow here on 13 July 2006, and the Totem Axe here on July 20th 2006. No mention of the Forgotten Fan. Good ol' Guildwiki (Fandom fork) notes the fan, axe, and bow being from the June 15 2006 update, along with The Ice Breaker, which I'd forgotten about. So, yes. — snograt

- Oh, and Kepkhet Marrowfeast and her associated green were added in March of that year. — snograt

- Ah, in that case I might have some missed some sarcasm on your part. Same, I didn't realize that this wasn't documented until reading your change summary. Yeah, for such an old game, GW has still quite the active community. I guess it is just natural that some of them will be the type that keeps digging and documenting. Either way, I'm also glad to have them, particularly here :)
- I do in fact remember the scribe article about Rotwing's Recurve Bow. Likewise, I remember the introduction of Kepkhet's Refuge. It was the first green item outside of Tomb of the Primeval Kings (or UW2, how it used to be called in Germany back then). And the first one sadI ever found, for that matter. (Would sell now for a very pretty penny as "pre-pre-nerf item"had I decided to keep it, haha.)
- Talking about pre-nerf, that is a commonly used term in Kamadan and GW Legacy these days, I'm surprised there's no article on it here. Also, documenting the differences (dye change affecting model and icon, as well as the textbox order) would warrant its own giant project if we were to actually document this here on GWW.) —Zerpha
