The Admin noticeboard is one way through which users can notify administrators of issues needing administrative attention. While users are welcome to directly contact specific administrators (especially if they are seen to be active), posting here can be an easier and quicker way of ensuring that at least one admin will notice an issue and respond to it promptly. Remember to sign when posting an issue.

Before posting an issue here, consider the following:

  • As this is a noticeboard and not a talk page, please refrain from discussing.
  • Post only issues that require administrative action, i.e. blocking vandals, protecting pages, restoring deleted pages etc.
  • Do not post deletion requests here. Deletion requests should be made by adding {{delete}} to the top of the target page, which will then automatically mark the page as a candidate for deletion.
  • Do not post issues regarding content disputes. Try making a request for comments instead.
  • Mediation requests between users should only be made if a resolution could not be reached between users.
  • For issues regarding the use of this wiki, please see our help center.

In case of vandalism, posting about it here is low priority. Revert it first, anyone can do so. If the vandal created a new page, tag it for deletion. Assume good faith and consider leaving a message on that user's talk page to explain the reason. Post here only if the user has made several disruptive edits and/or persists despite a warning. Always avoid a revert war with the vandal; it is far better to wait until an admin has a chance to intervene.

Creating a new request — vandals
  1. Edit the Vandal issues section.
  2. At the top of the list, use the {{vandal|IP address or username here}} template. Provide a short and neutral summary of the issue.
Creating a new request — non-vandal cases (e.g. user issues, page protection/undeletion, etc.)
  1. Add a new section (+) to the page and enter an appropriate title (without using templates or links) in the subject field.
  2. In the edit field, enter a short and neutral summary of the issue. Use the {{user|ip address or username here}} template to refer to users involved with the case and provide links to important pages or edits.
As a sign of courtesy, also leave a message on the talk page of any involved user.
New account requests
Users will be unable to create an account via the login page until administrators have approved their username.
  1. Edit the New username section.
  2. At the bottom of the section, add a new comment with your desired username and any desired capitalization (e.g. "User:Guild Wars", "User:Guild wars", "User:GuildWars", and "User:Guildwars" will be different accounts). If your desired username starts with a letter, it will be capitalized.
An administrator will get around to adding an exception for your chosen username within a few days.

Vandal issues[edit]

Starting with the most recent vandals.

Vandal 45.74.51.3 (talkcontribs [deleted] • logsblock logabuse filter log)

An "e" bot that was auto-blocked by abuse filter but needs three pages deleted. — snogratUser Snograt signature.png 11:48, 7 September 2025 (UTC)

Taken care of, thanks! Greener (talk) 14:05, 7 September 2025 (UTC)
Vandal 172.56.17.189 (talkcontribs [deleted] • logsblock logabuse filter log)

Looks like they are using a bot to edit hundreds of wiki pages to redirect to a page that just says "THE BIG TRASH"

Should be all fixed. - Tanetris (talk) 05:07, 1 July 2025 (UTC)
Vandal 71.67.180.38 (talkcontribs [deleted] • logsblock logabuse filter log)
repeated vandalism and additionally claiming they checked in-game for willful intent. Steve1 (talk) 18:13, 9 April 2025 (UTC)
I'll keep my eye on this account, but I'd rather not presume malice when someone could simply be making mistakes. Greener (talk) 00:06, 10 April 2025 (UTC)
Uh-huh Steve1 (talk) 08:43, 10 April 2025 (UTC)
GWW:NPA - Tanetris (talk) 07:34, 10 April 2025 (UTC)
Vandal 172.56.17.189 (talkcontribs [deleted] • logsblock logabuse filter log)
Mass redirects to the THE BIG TRASH page, and reverting any attempts to remove these redirects. VectorSomething (talk) 02:40, 1 July 2025 (UTC)
Also seems to be a bot given the sheer ridiculous speed of their reverts. VectorSomething (talk) 02:45, 1 July 2025 (UTC)

block log[edit]

Any chance it can be updated so that repeat offenders get blocked once and for all? Take this one here for example: https://wiki.guildwars.com/index.php?title=Special:Log&page=User%3AMargretUjj&type=block 6th block this month.

Cheers, Steve1 (talk) 18:33, 19 April 2021 (UTC)

I don't know how to set up the Abuse Filter so I can't speak to that, but I've nuked that user and if there are others, feel free to point them out and I'll take care of them as well. My personal preference would be for the Abuse Filter to ramp up the blocks when it is the same user over and over again, maybe every other block stepping up to the next duration level until it hits the infinite level. But again, I have no idea how to set that up or if it is even possible. --Rainith (talk) 21:05, 19 April 2021 (UTC)
Not an expert on abusefilter, but it doesn't seem to have the ability to apply scaling punishment automatically. It's just a simple if:then, where you can specify what to deny and the punishment for triggering, but not "longer each time." -Auron 21:56, 19 April 2021 (UTC)
Alex had looked at this a while back on the gw2w. His solution at the time was to run his own script to identify accounts which had hit against certain filters multiple times. He then went and blocked those accounts. I don't believe that's something we'll be able to automate. Definitely frustrating, but at least the bots are being stopped far more often than not. Greener (talk) 04:48, 20 April 2021 (UTC)
Wow, you're pretty active. What caused that blocking spree? (thumbs up) Steve1 (talk) 19:57, 26 June 2021 (UTC)
Clients were done for the most part this week, so I had far too much time on my hands. Needed something to do. Greener (talk) 22:25, 26 June 2021 (UTC)

block log[edit]

Abuse filter talk contribs blocked Derros talk contribs with an expiration time of 3 days (account creation disabled) ‎(Automatically blocked by abuse filter. Description of matched rule: Spam: Targeted spam (brands))

might be a mistake. Steve1 (talk) 21:24, 31 May 2021 (UTC)

Definitely was a mistake. Thanks for noticing that. Greener (talk) 05:00, 1 June 2021 (UTC)

user page bot spam / abuse filter update[edit]

As Steve1 has pointed out, we're getting a substantial influx of spam user bios being created atm. If someone could deal with that since Greener is on vacation, that'd be nice. horrible | contribs 20:29, 5 August 2021 (UTC)

Rainith's been taking care of it. Abuse filter has been updated. Greener (talk) 23:41, 7 August 2021 (UTC)

Account Deletion[edit]

moved from Help:Ask a wiki question

I want to delete my wiki account (this one) but I can't find a place to do so, can someone please tell me how - or make it happen? Wondertje (talk) 00:24, 19 August 2021 (UTC)

I presume you're asking for all of these user subpages to be deleted? If so, I can delete them for you. Greener (talk) 00:36, 19 August 2021 (UTC)
I wish for not only all subpages, but the account in and of itself. I could scurry the data (username/password) myself but that seems rather stupid. Wondertje (talk) 01:47, 19 August 2021 (UTC)
Alright, I've cleared out your user pages and images. Tanetris will come around in the next couple of days to look at the account itself. Greener (talk) 02:41, 19 August 2021 (UTC)
Thank you, much appreciated! Wondertje (talk) 14:11, 19 August 2021 (UTC)
Dumb question: Did you want your older wiki account deleted too? - Tanetris (talk) 21:11, 19 August 2021 (UTC)
I wasn't even aware I had another one, are you sure it's mine? If there's no doubt regarding it, yes delete that one too. Wondertje (talk) 21:13, 19 August 2021 (UTC)
User:JackieDiJackJack looks like it's you, but I could be mistaken. - Tanetris (talk) 21:42, 19 August 2021 (UTC)
Oh wow haha, that's a username I haven't seen in awhile. Yeah, that's mine too. Both of these can be deleted. Wondertje (talk) 22:42, 19 August 2021 (UTC)
All done. The wiki thanks you for your time with us and wishes you well in your future endeavors. - Tanetris (talk) 06:07, 20 August 2021 (UTC)

I want to delete my wiki account, including my talk page and the two talk page archives. There is precedent for the removal of talk pages in some cases, so I hope this will not be a problem. Please let me know if you require any more information. Thanks! horrible 21:40, 30 June 2023 (UTC)

Account renaming[edit]

Hi, I would like to change my username on here from "Lil Nub Sin" 2 "Han" pls. --The preceding unsigned comment was added by Han (talk) at 18:17, 19 August 2021‎ (UTC).

All done. We had to do the usermerge route because we're actually missing the RenameUser extension for some reason, but Stephane's on the case for getting that sorted out for the future. - Tanetris (talk) 21:24, 19 August 2021 (UTC)

Greetings, would it be possible to combine the contents of this account with my other account User:Soldier198? I forgot the password to my original account and was unable to log into it, hence why I made this one. Soldier198-2 (talk) 00:58, 13 November 2021 (UTC)

disable account creation[edit]

Howdy, looks like the recent spam wave seems to stem from bots being able to create accounts without being stopped. So how about you guys disable automatic account creation? Real folks interested in accounts need to drop a quick note here and you let that IP create an account. Doable? Steve1 (talk) 20:46, 11 November 2021 (UTC)

hmmmm… seems like something that could be possible. Ill ask Greener, as he’s got a better handle on this stuff than I do. -- Salome User salome sig2.png 21:03, 11 November 2021 (UTC)
We can ponder doing that again, a la Guild Wars Wiki:Admin noticeboard/Account archive 1. I'll admit to that being a personal annoyance to watch over, but it should remove a bigger general annoyance. Greener (talk) 01:41, 12 November 2021 (UTC)
Really I think this is necessary. On any given day it seems like 75%+ of the Recent changes page is spam bots creating accounts and getting blocked. And that's probably a conservative estimate. --Rainith (talk) 18:13, 24 November 2021 (UTC)
Alright, I will turn on the filter which prevents accounts from being created. Greener (talk) 23:22, 25 November 2021 (UTC)
thanks mate! - -- Salome User salome sig2.png 23:33, 25 November 2021 (UTC)
Nice. How about putting up a banner for a bit to advertize the change? Steve1 (talk) 21:56, 26 November 2021 (UTC)
People should get a banner with directions when they try to create an account. Greener (talk) 00:08, 27 November 2021 (UTC)
We've got a new captcha system on the wiki. Going to give that a chance to step in. I took a glance at the gw2w, and it seems to be doing fairly well over there. Greener (talk) 15:39, 25 December 2021 (UTC)

game of throws cape[edit]

Saw GoT doesn't have a cape uploaded, and I don't have perms to edit the page and add it since I'm in the guild. lmk a place I can upload it and you can edit the page, thanks. -- Shield Bundle I V ingame, don't have a wiki acct. https://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Guild:Game_Of_Throws

Hey there! If you'd like to upload an image for the cape, first create an account, and then click on this link to upload the image. No extra permissions necessary. Greener (talk) 19:08, 7 July 2022 (UTC)

Talk:Player-made Modifications and GWW:CONTENT[edit]

So, I've already said my personal opinion on the matter in this discussion, but I feel that the keeping the links on this talk page violate our content retention policy, even when outside of the mainspace. horrible 12:52, 10 August 2022 (UTC)

Are you referring to the github links? What specifically is the problem? Greener (talk) 19:33, 10 August 2022 (UTC)
I'm not seeing anything is the policies against those links, so if you're serious, you're going to need to be a lot more explicit than some vague statement saying you've already shared your opinion. -Rainith (talk) 16:02, 11 August 2022 (UTC)

Removing personal information from guild page[edit]

Old personal informations to be removed > https://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Guild:Light_Of_Shadow_(historical)

Username Change[edit]

Hello everyone, I would like to change my username on the wiki from Darigaaz to Diaz Ex Machina. Would that be possible? Thank you in advance for your help and time. --Spiteful Spirit (large).jpg Darigaaz (Talk) 09:43, 31 January 2023 (UTC)

Sure why not. Done. - Tanetris (talk) 20:08, 31 January 2023 (UTC)

Item stacking[edit]

Please semi-protect. Enough with those alt-fetishists. ;) They can go to the gw2wiki. Steve1 (talk) 10:39, 23 May 2023 (UTC)

Seems reasonable, I've set it for six months, if it starts up again after that, we'll deal with it then. -Rainith (talk) 15:56, 23 May 2023 (UTC)

Script for amending the rune pages[edit]

Could one of you wiki-wizards create a script to add this

https://wiki.guildwars.com/index.php?title=Rune_of_Healing_Prayers&diff=prev&oldid=2692049

to all profession specific rune pages please? Vigor is done, but I cba to manually do all rune pages. Regards, Steve1 (talk) 15:43, 7 January 2024 (UTC)

Script wizardry is not in my portfolio, sorry. If the number of pages were in the hundreds, then I'd start researching, but this amount may as well be done by hand (and you have my thanks for doing so). Greener (talk) 15:58, 7 January 2024 (UTC)

Account Deletion[edit]

Hello, I am requesting that my account, talk page, and all possible contributions be deleted. I have already marked all my user and feedback pages for deletion. Thanks. Soldier198 (talk) 14:05, 26 August 2024 (UTC)

Suggestion[edit]

Seems like the discussion pages of the newest patch notes have been the target for spam rather frequently. Why don't you guys auto-protect discussion pages for (new) patch notes in the future? At least if easy to implement. Cheers, Steve1 (talk) 17:08, 8 September 2024 (UTC)

1RR ?[edit]

Would like some feedback on a possible 1RR violation on Shadow_of_Death#Trivia by Steve1 (talkcontribslogsblock log) and - mistakenly - by myself Erszebet (talkcontribslogsblock log) (mea culpa!). Left a note on Steve1 talk page here. Erszebet (talk) 08:13, 30 September 2024 (UTC)

Assuming my first edit (rewording the IP's input) counts as a revert, then it looks like this: you broke 1rr - and should've known better. Then I broke 1rr - and should've known better. Plus it's about a totally irrelevant trivia, which makes our behaviour doubly childish. What we both should do is self-revert our 1rr breaking edits and discuss things on the talk page. Since we end up with the article as it is right now after self-reverting, let's say we both both imaginarily self-reverted (to show good-will and adherence to the rules) and save everyone 2 changes in RC and leave it as is.
Serious question to the admins: Does my first edit count as a revert? If not, this would open up the possibilty to slighty change some input in order to circumvent 1rr, so I guess it does?! Steve1 (talk) 09:47, 30 September 2024 (UTC)
Chronologically:
Thanks for bringing it to the relevant talk page. Greener (talk) 17:36, 30 September 2024 (UTC)

protect pages please[edit]

Discord and Discord (PvP) pure speculation and weasel words about a living person who has nothing to do with GWWW or ANet (in contrast to those alpha testers which were very likely immortalized). Steve1 (talk) 14:56, 29 November 2024 (UTC)

Thanks for avoiding an edit war. I'll put a short protection on the pages only as a means of directing people to the talk page to further any discussion. Greener (talk) 19:15, 29 November 2024 (UTC)

Account deletion request[edit]

Hello, I would like to have my userpage and wiki account deleted if possible. This seems like the appropriate place to ask. Thank you in advance! Piippo (talk) 11:22, 24 January 2025 (UTC)

Your user page and talk page have been deleted. Thank you very much for your contributions to this wiki. Greener (talk) 22:14, 24 January 2025 (UTC)

Wiki page for Heroes Ascent[edit]

Should wiki pages, under both “Notes” and “Trivia” be a platform to publish gripes about players botting?

Some players say yes, some players say no.

Wiki Administrators are requested to make a policy decision.

The 1-Revert-Rule is already exceeded. Eastern Blade (talk) 04:24, 28 February 2025 (UTC)

While I appreciate you reaching out on this topic, this particular content discussion does not fall under the admin purview. The two people involved have already done the appropriate first step, which is to take the discussion to the article's talk page. You're also trying to elicit the perspective of others. Those actions are exactly what you should do, and what an admin would have suggested had you not already done so.
I'm sure that others have an opinion on this topic, and I hope that the two of you hear from them shortly.
You both have my thanks for doing everything properly and avoiding a needless edit war. Greener (talk) 16:13, 28 February 2025 (UTC)

Quick IP check please[edit]

Could you please check if https://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Special:Contributions/194.191.246.108 and https://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Special:Contributions/Paint are using the same IP adress? If they're clever, then they used a VPN and it's moot, but still worth a try. This stinks like it's the same user. Thanks. Steve1 (talk) 14:40, 29 March 2025 (UTC)

Spam on Feedback:Game updates/20250402[edit]

I've repeatedly gotten 403s in the last, say, 2 to 4 hours. When middle mouse opening pages in a new tab, when trying to edit. Steve1 (talk) 17:23, 15 April 2025 (UTC)

That sounds like an unfortunate side-effect of bots scraping the wiki for LLMs. They've been hitting all the wikis pretty hard and have been effectively DDoSing them. Greener (talk) 02:39, 16 April 2025 (UTC)

delete redirects[edit]

I've recently moved a page and some files. The wiki automatically creates a redirect without giving me the chance to not do that. Would you please delete those redirects? And check if an option like "leave no redirect"" can be enabled for non-admins. IIRC there used to be such a one. Steve1 (talk) 12:29, 24 April 2025 (UTC)

The redirects have been deleted.
A fair while ago, Mediawiki changed the permissions for 'suppressredirect'. I do not recall which groups had access to it prior to the change, but on the GW2W, a new group called 'Extended Editors' was created to give some non-admin the ability to move without creating a redirect, among other rights. If that's something that the community would like implemented here on the GW1W, please do discuss on the Community Portal.
