"why include skills with a failure rate? they require an attribute investment for full effectiveness"[edit]

Well, as i said, i added all skills wihout green numbers to this category. several of those skills still aren't useful with no rank, e.g. melee attacks that require a specific weapon...but well, we don't look at this in that category, only at "essentially unlunked skills", right? ;P —ZerphatalkThe Improver 14:30, 16 February 2008 (UTC)

Balthazar's Spirit[edit]

I'm removing this skill from this list. Although 99% percent of the time people don't benefit from the adrenaline gain, it still scales to smiting. Barkingllama 06:23, 9 March 2008 (UTC)

yeah, wasn't sure whether i should add it or not, but it's actually right not to include it. —ZerphatalkThe Improver 00:51, 19 March 2008 (UTC)

Missing skills[edit]

Wild Blow, Wastrel's Collapse Nevermind didn't see that they had to belong to an attribute and didn't scale with it. Learning comprehension is ftw. --74.61.209.219 00:59, 19 March 2008 (UTC)

Gale unlinked[edit]

moved from Talk:Gale

i think you were wrong to remove it from the list, i mean dark fury is there and you didn't touch that. so either add gale or remove more skills. --The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:78.20.153.111 (talk).

I think skills which fail unless an attribute requirement is met (gale, dark fury, etc) should be taken off the list. This category is "essentially unlinked" skills, not "almost unlinked" skills. ~Shard User Shard Sig Icon.png 09:38, 12 July 2009 (UTC)
I agree; skills with a failure chance are still tied to an attribute. — Raine Valen User Raine R.gif 1:55, 5 Nov 2010 (UTC)
Apparently the criterium for this cat was 'Does not scale', however much sense that may or may not make. Backsword 02:09, 5 November 2010 (UTC)
If that is to remain the sole criterion, the category should be named to reflect that. — Raine Valen User Raine R.gif 2:53, 5 Nov 2010 (UTC)

Failure rate skills[edit]

I'm creating a new category for skills with a chance to fail because essentially unlinked is inaccurate; these skills perform differently depending on attribute rank. However, instead of scaling with rank, they use a step function: either there is a chance to fail or there is not.

Alternatively, the second category could also be called Category:Skills using a step-function, but (a) the only step-functions are failure-rate type skills and (b) not everyone is familiar with the term, step-function.  — Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 19:44, 10 February 2011 (UTC)

Why are these skills even linked to begin with?[edit]

I understand skills like Hammer Bash are easier to find since they are <weapon> attacks, but why skills like Mirror of Disenchantment are linked are beyond me. What are the devs thinking when they link them? The ONLY spell I've recognized as benefitting from a category is Deny Hexes, which counts itself as a recharging DF spell. Anyone else have a thought? 98.230.31.125 05:13, 26 June 2011 (UTC)
