Visualization and attention for detail is high in the game, and this is definitely a good thing. In character customization and gear equipment everyone is proud of their looks, and wish to show it to others as well. And what do players do when they are in cities/palces with other players? As social beings they click on others just to see what they look like and what they are like.

This is why it is important that when a player/friend is targeted, you can see clearly the face and appearance of that targeted player in the target portrait. What is the point of looking fabulous, if no one else can see it? Target portrait is purely cosmetic thing, but important when you want a quick and sufficient view of the targeted friend, and adds a nice touch of variation in terms of appearances.

Also, people may want to examine the appearance, gear and looks of another player more closely, if they want even better and more comprehensive view that the target portrait offers.
