Why change. Heres why. The other day I was doing the riverside province mish. I killed a lynx off to the side of the watchtower. My team was very loud about it, activating their skills. The guards, not far away, took no notice. This should change.

Improvements that could be made on the aggro-bubble

  1. Please get rid of it: it is too inaccurate. The aggro buble should be replaced by several things,
  2. Eyesight: If an enemy sees combat, he should alert his group and investigate. If, upon investigation, he sees the enemy, he should attack the enemy.
  3. Earshot: If an enemy hears something, it should investigate. A running character should make more noise and have a larger "aggro-bubble" than a walking one. Some proffesions, like the ranger, could even have a trait for being quiet.
  4. Skills: Shouts should attract foes. The better the player is at using a shout, the louder/quieter he should be (tied to trait). Also, spells could have volume. Everything that you hear through you monitor has a volume. That volume should realisticly reflect how the enemies around you hear you.
  5. alerting allies: What I hate is the ability to pull groups from a larger group. There should be a function where they alert their allies. This would vary. For example, a troll would not alarm anything, but a white mantle warrior would. If they investigate something, they should alarm their group to come with them, but if they are higher leveled, they will tell the larger group to expect them, so if the smaller group doesnt return, the rest of the larger one will investigate. If any group of enemies enters battle, they should call out to their allies, so the entire larger group would come. They could even chain the alert, so that one enemy alerts, then all who hear it would alert, and this would strech untill they were out of eyesight.
  6. eyesight: let me end on emphasis of eyesight. you should be able to sneak up on an enemy. For example, a patrol of baddies coul be going by the road. You could sneak up and hide in the bushes before they come. Then, once their backs are to you, you and your groups could sneak up behind them and try to ambush them. A successful player could get so close they could pick the group off one by one from the back up to the front. an unsuccessful player would alarm the group and be thrust into combat.

breaking it down, there should be two stages of aggro.

1.investigation

2.attack

Thanks for reading my long post.
