I would love to be able to set the color of Ranger pets. Much like the character armor dye system, it give the player more customization. If people would rather have a more realistic look, like not wanting bears being teal, then maybe limiting the number of different colors. However, the colors may change depending on the pet. For example, bird pets could be more colorful because in nature birds are blues, reds, etc., but limiting animals like bears to grays, browns, blacks, etc. This would allow the player to choose how they want their pet to look, as well as giving them options to change its appearance as they play more. Someone might want a brown bear in the beginning, but decide that later on they'd rather have a black one. This feature would make the transition simple and quick. Plus, who wouldn't want a deadly pink flamingo at their side? I know I do.
