Feedback:User/Dealaka/Crests and World Domination

The last of the dark days have begun. Alliances and Factions have begun to move towards world domination, or at the very least, to crush their enemies. In an attempt to secure their power various factions have begun to issue Crests to individuals and guilds.

Crest - Symbol of power of an organization or faction that one can wear to gain benefits in the lands held by that faction.

Since the storyline for GW seems to have dried up completely at least until GW2, I thought it might be fun to start an idea to bring it to life and add some new features. I understand fully that the chances of this happening are more then likely non-existent but I wanted to add this idea somewhere and GW seems the best place at the moment.

Basically there would be a new item slot on characters (and new Alliances to join). These would be optional for characters and existing guilds to not be required to change anything. Those who participated would get to place a Crest as a chest emblem piece. This would show loyalty to the alliance and gain benefits while in the lands that those control.

Crests would be awarded by completing a series of quests for each alliance where one makes a name for themselves. A player may only have a crest for a single alliance. Working for another requires starting all over again after surrendering your crest.

As guilds/members do missions for the alliance contacts the world actually changes to reflect the alliance gaining more power. Enemies of one type become less common and enemies of another type become more common.

An example would be if the Am Fah grow in power, the Jade Brotherhood is less commonly encountered in explorable areas. Each alliance then follows a storyline ending if they end up with world domination until they are overthrown. Each alliance has it's own items and new cities which can only be reached by those of the alliance. (Makes use of the big empty world we have).

Each Crest would have a random benefit and disadvantage. While in lands controlled by the alliance the benefit and disadvantage is increased. Advantages might be more damage against particular foes, more armor, condition immunities, regeneration pluses, increased energy/health. Disadvantages might be less damage against particular foes, less armor, condition duration increases, degeneration, decreased energy/health. The benefits could include increased loot or money, or decreased of such. It could be increases to specific items. There's limitless possibilities here.

The technology for this is present in game already. The new equipment pouch is a good example of how to do it on the inventory. Quests already change the number and types of enemies present in an explorable area. Random spawns already overtake Kurzick/Luxon Towns. We have technology that prevents people from entering places whom have not cleared the storyline.

This allows those whom want to, to align themselves specifically with an Alliance. Perhaps for part of their biography. There could be many more types of Alliances also not mentioned above. You could also set it up so that while wearing a crest, you do not 'aggro' alliance members but are attacked by their enemies. This becomes interesting with 'enemy/monster' towns.

We could have regular events of 'Wars' where two major alliances compete for final domination. More importantly it fills in gaps we currently have in the GW storyline between now and GW2.

Thank you for taking the time to read my ramblings. If you enjoyed it I'm glad. I never expect this to actually be embraced by developers, nor anyone else. My opinions only represent my thinking, and I do not expect or claim to understand other humans, aliens, or monsters.
