Background[edit]

Razah was a curious soul.

A mysterious entity born of the Mists, he roamed the world, seeking knowledge and understanding. He joined many adventurers on their travels, learning different disciplines and professions. He once made the acquantance of the Envoys, who shepharded the souls of the deceased. They gave him knowledge of the spirits, and the Mists from which he was born. With this new-found knowledge, Razah went into the Foundry of Failed Creations, and began expirementing with the Mists, trying to replicate his own manifestation. He used his body and capabilities as a template.

He was successful; the Mist'ken were born.

Description[edit]

The Mist'ken share similarities with their creator, Razah. Being spawned from the Mists, they have no gender; they may take the male or female forms of humans, however. They are humanoid, but with odd skin tones, as well as unique patterns, similar to tattoos, all around their body. They also have no eyes; where they would be on normal humans, Mist'ken have deep, shadowy caverns. At times, one can see light reflect off a slight mist or fog rising from their bodies.

Mist'ken are are very curious race, but for intuitive reasons; where other new races, like the Sylvari, are innocently curious, the Mist'ken are logic to a fault. Like Razah, they are disconnected from emotions, which leads to very strained communications with the good races. However, Mist'ken can be incredibly focused to a task, which makes them very trustworthy.

They are mostly found in Elona, where they have begun to be accepted and integrated into society. However, with the awakening of the Elder Dragons, few have appeared in Tyria or Cantha yet. Those that do make it to the other continents are usually taken for humans.

Inspiration[edit]

The Mist'ken were inspired from two main sources: Razah, and the Shiro'ken.

Razah, of course, was the creator of the Mist'ken, and is still a prominent leader amongst the race. They share many physical characteristics with him, including their flexibility in professions. However, because they are copies of him, once a path is chosen, they cannot taken from it.

The inspiration from the Shiro'ken can be seen from the skill Song of the Mists, as well as the Elite Form Awaken Soul. The name of the skill you get in this form, Storm of Swords, is a reference to a Factions celestial skill, and the animation is reminescant of the warrior Shiro'ken.
