Feedback:User/Draikin/Alternative to deleting Hero Battles

It's highly ironic that player protest to the situation in Hero Battles has contributed to getting the format deleted altogether. Even though I think it's unlikely Anet will reconsider their decision, I'd still like to suggest an alternative. I'm just looking at keeping the format playable with a minimal amount of work. It's clear that HB is the most imbalanced PvP format in the game right now, and Anet does not have the time to balance it. Therefore the only way I can see the format survive is by giving it the same sealed deck system that the new PvP format is going to receive. This may already be asking for too much but I really don't see a different solution. If at all possible Anet could clone the sealed deck and have both the new PvP format and HB share the exact same skill deck. Assuming the original maps would stay the same, The Crossing would have to be removed from the format altogether since that map is simply unplayable with heroes. The AI bugs can be left alone, it's worth noting that people have been using builds specialized in exploiting flaws in the AI and with a sealed deck this would become more difficult. AI fixes for PvE often overlap with those needed for PvP so over time the worst AI flaws/bugs might eventually be fixed anyway. The automated tournaments can be removed (possible together with freezing the ladder) and the match system reverted to that used before the AT's. Instead, the Commander Title could be changed to give points depending on the number of consecutive wins like in Random Arena, solving many of the current match manipulation issues in HB. The 20 points victory condition would probably need to be reduced as well. It wasn't adjusted after the morale meter recharge rate was lowered so matches all too often last the full ten minutes, it should probably be set at 15 points to speed up the game a bit.

In summary:

  • Introduce sealed deck for HB
  • Remove The Crossing
  • Remove tournaments (optionally freeze ladder) and revert to match system used before the AT's
  • Commander Title rewarded according to consecutive wins
  • Lower victory condition to 15 points instead of 20
