Hi all,
I have been watching a few GW2 demo videos of major dynamic events resembling epic boss battles. In these events, many players have to utilize a variety of different tactics to deal with a powerful boss with a momentous amount of health. After reaching 4:15 [[1]] into a Youtube video of "The Shatterer," the players kill the minor dragon and run up to the chest to collect their reward. Once gathered around the chest, people started to spam AoE spells, knowing that it would have no impact on their allies’ health. I think it would enhance this brief moment of celebration if the reward chest would glow and get brighter based on the number of AoE spells and melee attacks targeted against it at the moment. This would provide a fun unifying experience for players who have just completed a fairly intense and involved battle. In addition, if for any reason players were confused as to where their loot can be found, the chest will be a bright signal to guide the player to the reward. Finally, players just arriving to the scene of the battle could observe from greater range that the other players were successful and that they should all be preparing for the next step in the event chain, provided players choose to continue in the current area. The color of the glow could be white, gold, etc. or could even match the profession of the killed boss (if applicable). I think this small addition could possibly improve the social quality of the victory.
Thanks! Any thoughts or suggestions are welcome.
