This has been requested many times since the inception of the game, but I haven't seen it in the suggestions area yet: Assassins and rangers (and, to a lesser extent possibly even dervishes and paragons) need "caster" weapons. It's effectively inefficient to play a ranger build that doesn't have Marksmanship or an assassin build that doesn't have Dagger mastery. To this effect, it severely limits the ability for a player freely to use Beastmastery and Deadly Arts as their primary build [since the ranger will still need Survival and/or Expertise, and the assassin Shadow Arts].

All of the caster classes of the game have a staff/wand available for any of their attributes, and the warrior has one for all of his (Strength works with any basically any other weapon; and there are strength shields). A beastmastery and a deadly arts character feel far more like casters than they do anyone else. They really need to have a weapon, even if it's only of wand power, to go with those attributes.

This need is true for:

  • beastmaster rangers;
  • deadly arts assassins;
  • support paragons (concentrating on command and motivation without spear master).
  • trap rangers (though they tend not to need to spread their points around as thinly as the other builds, so usually can afford a few points into marksmanship);

I do not notice any builds for Dervish that do not utilize the scythe, but I am not terribly familiar with that profession. Mo/Me/E/N/Rt already have weapons available for any attribute. Warrior's design also precludes this need.
