Rit spirits, for the most part, suck in PvP. Excruciating cast times coupled with prohibitive recharge times for almost zero effect are pretty retarded. They weren't always this bad, but that was because they were too good and led to heavy defenseball metas. This astute observation has led me to believe that fixing rit spirits so that they see play will require something a little more than complex than just number adjustments.

Keep in mind what I am proposing I intend to be only for PvP. Also keep in mind is that this won't happen overnight, and will probably require months of ironing out minor problems.

For starters, we're going to have to reduce the amount of rit spirits a person and a team can keep up. I propose that a single person can only maintain 1 binding ritual, with a team having a max of 3. Whenever you make a new spirit, your old one dies. "What?!" you say, "This will be the final nail in the coffin for rit spirits!" Let me finish my proposal.

Second, Rits Spirits will have to be somewhat micromanagable. ArenaNet will have to make a UI somewhat similar to pet UI, except that it also displays energy and spirit duration remaining. Spirits that attack--Pain, Bloodsong--will be given the "Target X" option. All spirits will be given a "Release" option, which will kill the spirit. Yes, I know this would make skills like Soul Twisting useless. However, I will explain this part in a bit.

Third, number adjustments. Lancy1214 had worked her little fingers to the bone on adjusting binding rituals to be more active. I suggest changes along what she proposed, though with the binding ritual limit, some skills might need to be buffed a bit.

And lastly, recharge changes. Recharge will need to be changed so it happens after the spirit dies, rather than when it is created, and would need to be party-wide. This would hopefully prevent mono-spirit chaining, whether it be done by one person or by multiple. To help increase mobility of spirits, the "Release" button in the Spirit UI would kill the spirit, so the recharge could kick in while they're getting into position. Of course, you could put a minor penalty for using the release button, such as 5 energy loss or 5% life sacrifice.

You might ask "how will this affect Spirit Shrines in AB and FA?" To that I respond: They all ready use PvEhax, so I figure this system wouldn't apply to them. I know this is going to be an extreme change. However, I can only hope it would be for the better.
