Hello Anet devs,

Here is my feedback on active & passive spells in GW2 for BWE3:

IMO, spells aren't strong enough especially for certain weapons. The essential blueprint of a spell is its skill effect, and if these effects doesn't do a whole lot in changing the dynamics of a fight - meaning, if I'm just firing a fire arrow every time it's up because it does damage (not because I need the burn damage), then it's really just the same as spamming the spell mindlessly, because the impact of a spell is weak (again, I'm not saying spells not hit hard enough, I'm saying that besides stun & cripple or slow, the majority of other spell effects are incompetent for making dynamic results in combat).

GW2 spells lack enough emphasize on spell effects, which is especially true for the bow, sword, hammer, and etc <- basically for the weapons which aren't magic specialist like sceptor, wand, etc. Every weapon doesn't have to be "" active spell based "", but the weapons that aren't like the ones I mentioned above - should be "" passive spell based"".

EDIT: I think the correct statements from the beginning then would be:

1) GW2 lacks balance of "" Active Spells "" variations (ie. stun & cripple or slow are the only three main competent skill effects for making dynamic results in combat, 90% of the time)

2) "" Passive Spells "" impact the dynamic results in combat almost to a point of close to none simply due to there being so little useful passive spells in the game, especially for weapons that need them like the bow, sword, hammer, and etc <- basically for the weapons which aren't magic specialist like sceptor, wand, etc.

Hopefully my criticisms here of what's lacking in GW2 have been constructive & friendly. Honestly, the only problem I have with this game is the whole combat balance issues (ie. passive & active spells, range combat vs melee combat, mob telegraph not working in huge fights [included in my other post], lack of opportunity to dodge [included in my other post], etc). It's really a big deal to me because.... I'm an RTS & FPS player so combat is the most important thing in a game to me. But I'm not worried at all - I got faith in your superb team of developers, because your content design has simply been brilliant & consistent so far.

Good luck on preparing this game for launch.

Sincerely,
