Good morning, I was just playing, and thinking about the fact that people use the common chat room for so much other garbage. You have posted several memos at the login screen about using it for the proper stuff, but there's never been any way to enforce that, or so anything about it.
I think it would be very beneficial to add the ability to report improper posts with the /report feature, so when people put guild or trade things into the local chat, it can be reported. Then, when someone gets reported it should notify them, so they can put the post in the proper chat, and it keeps track of the number of reports so you can see if there are habitual offenders, and take action against them.
After giving it some thought about how it should go, I think perhaps 10 reports would result in review by game moderators and action to be determined by them. Perhaps the following sequence would be sufficient:
Report # Warning 1-4 You have been reported as using the local chat for trade/guild recruiting. Please use the trade/guild party search feature and not local chat. 5 You have been reported as using the local chat for trade/guild recruiting. Please use the trade/guild party search feature and not local chat. Further violations may result in review by game moderators to determine if disciplinary action is required. 6-9 Please use the proper trade or guild party search for your postings. Further violations may result in review by game moderators to determine if disciplinary action is required. 10 Your account is being reviewed with regards to your use of the local chat. The moderator will determine if any further action will be taken.
There should probably be a time requirement, for instance, the each report would have to be at least 5 minutes apart or they count as the same instance. The reports would have to keep some sort of log, to make the moderator's job easier, so they have the date/time stamp, who reported it, what town it was in and what district, that way they can easily review the logs to see for themselves. It should also only send it for review if the 10 reports are created within, maybe a month, or forced review after 20 regardless of time frame.
This would make things a lot more enjoyable for everyone, and would allow those of us who actually try to use to local chat to talk to other players, from having to turn it off because of all the guild/trade spam junk that shows up and makes trying to use local quite useless in a lot of cases.
Thanks,
