Feedback:User/I Am Legion/The Nightstalker, Assassin revamp

From Guild Wars Wiki

This concept has in mind to create a proper substitute for the old Assassin class better suited to the new strategical reality present in Guild Wars 2. The inclusion of the Z-axis will allow characters to jump over obstacles, crouching etc. From my point of view, a proper Assassin substitute should take the maximum potential of this new feature while preserving the trickery and lethality that define the Assassin class. This concept was originally posted as The Nightstalker in the Guild Wars 2 Guru forums.

The new Assassin class should be more centered around the concepts of stealth', flanking, reconnaissance, sabotage and special forces rather than just hit-and-run killers. The main task of the Nightstalker is to infiltrate the enemy and sabotage his defenses while helping other companions to overcome the enemies. Flexibility and Speed are the keys of this concept. I also include the Ancient Arts attribute mainly as a link to the old Assassin "magic" abilities although this is not essential part of this class and can safely removed.

From my personal point of view the new Nightstalker/Assassin class should have more in common with partisans, thieves, and western spies than with the traditional popular Ninja archetype although this is not mutually exclusive. The reason for this Lore update is to make the new Nightsalker/Assassin more universal for all races and cultures and not only a thing from Cantha.

I hope that you enjoyed my concept and hope to see it implemented for Guild Wars 2.

Lore[edit]

When Tyria become isolated due to the awakening of the elders dragons, hundreds of exiled Mo Zings, Xunlai bodyguards, and Cantha traitor-hunters sent by the Emperor were trapped without possibility of returning to Cantha.

150 years of isolation have resulted in substantial changes in the way of thinking and acting of the ancient assassins profession, now known as nightstalkers, traditionally more affluent urban environment of Cantha. Modern Nighthawks focus on speed, agility and subterfuge even more than his predecessor. Experiences learned from the Ebon Vanguard military campaigns have make them experts on sabotage and infiltration, while secrets learned from the Order of Wishpers have make them more versatile and dangerous than before. The nightstalkers were also one of the first groups to adopt firearms and explosives in his arsenal and use them with equal skill daggers.

Gameplay[edit]

Nightstalker focus heavily on acrobatics skills an is able to overcome obstacles from with unsuspected movements and surprisings jumping abilities making them the fastest and agile class. Since they are the class with better jumping, they can avoid barricades and terrain obstacles make them extremely useful for attack the rear and cause chaos in the enemy lines with technology devices like bombs or smoke.
