An interesting site to see would be to have large scale things happen in the environment like large mountains being emerged because some evil force has gained rule of a territory an has ported a fortress in the area. And while the mountain is emerging everything is shaking and clouds engulf the area sending bolts of lightning as chaos prevails. Large rips in space and the time continuum open up as dimensional beings and parts of the fortress are portal'd in. Another scenario would be a giant pendulum of time that appears to be swinging slowly from a distance but as you near it the magnitude and size of the pendulum becomes more apparent and the speed of the swinging becomes faster and then becomes violent.
