First, let me just say how great the art in the art book is, and the obvious talent that it represents. There are some really neat armor designs with the paperdoll figures in it. However, my concern is Anet is still trending towards inequality in the designs between male and female.
On the positive side, I have to give credit for the paperdoll designs on pages 19,34, 41 and 107, where the male and female designs are equal yet distinct enough. I do wonder why some of the armor "skirts" are always shorter on the females. I think the designs on page 37 are particularly good in giving equal treatment, yet a distinct look to each gender (assuming both get those nice boots, and not high heels for the female).
Page 40 is in total contrast. While the limb armor is generally equivalent, the male gets a protective scale armor vest, while the female version gets a tight leather bustier. Really? I hope this is the exception.
Now, I know the Norn seem to have a bizarre habit of bundling up one part of their body, but not the other, and in general the male and female versions are about the same in this. Except the female "winged helm" version on page 83 gets no pants while the male on 84 does. The middle armor, sort of ranger-ish, is a really neat design. I just wonder why the female torso part looks like a towel wrapped around her after a shower, and could fall off anytime. Which is a shame, because that armor's overall look and style is one of my favorites.
The animal style armor on page 99 is really great. I would mainly quibble about the bear male getting pants and the female not, and that the female raven's dress is ready to fall off any moment.
I do realize these are just a sample of the armor/paperdoll designs, and that the a large amount of the playerbase is young males, but I really hope the trend is toward the equal treatment in the types of armor and not the more sexist styles. I probably don't need to say this, but keep up the exceptional quality of the artwork and designs.
