In Guild Wars 2, I'd like to see Assassins as a powerful, "Assassin"-like class to choose. I think that shadowsteps should play a part in the combat in Guild Wars 2, but not only shadowsteps...
I suggest that there should be a new assassin primary attribute: Deadly Agility.
Deadly Agility would be where Assassins have an increased attack speed, movement speed, swimming, and jump height. This would replace Critical Arts in Guild Wars 1, and would provide a way to become a nimble fighter. Not only do I think that it should increase those movement factors, but I think that it should increase damage you deal while using multiple weapons, such as Dual Pistols or Dual Daggers.
I think that, as an example of a skill dependent upon Deadly Agility, would be a skill which, the next time you jump, you jump 50% higher. Here's the stats on it:
5 Energy or so. 20 second recharge. No casting time. It lasts for 5 seconds. The next time you jump, you jump 5....25....50% higher, and you deal 5...10...25% more damage while in the air.
Basically, that's a model for not only one skill, but a few "Types" of skills; skills that affect the new things that are in the new Guild Wars 2 engine.
