Alliance Battles[edit]
I know there is already an instanced battle ground called Alliance Battles, but the name isn’t a matter at the moment.
The Idea[edit]
A new instanced battleground game for PvP, that is based on the King of the Hill concept. Alliance Battles basically deals with factions battling each other in a large (Very large) arena map. This game can go one of two ways.
4 team battle of 20 players per Alliance (so 20-vs-20-vs-20-vs-20 =80 total players in the arena)
Or
3 team battles of 30 players per Alliance (so 30-vs-30-vs-30 = 90 total players in the arena)
The Map Design[edit]
For the 4 team battle, the map would be split into 4 sections. One section of the field per faction. Each area has captureable objectives so they require some defense and offence when it comes to playing this game. Each area is split into 4 different colors, one color for each Alliance. So as you lose territory, to can visually see the change as the color of the area gets smaller as you lose resources and territory.
The Center of the map is a neutral area at the start of the game. It can be captured to give bonus like resources per second.
Goal of the Game[edit]
The main goal is to control the most territory and captured resources by the end of the game.
Each time a player from your team dies, your faction loses a small amount of resources.
Each faction has their own special SIEGE MONSTER unique to their faction, which can be summoned forth to assist in the assault on other team’s areas. Siege monsters are strong and require multiple players to destroy, but take a bit of time to summon forth and build with the needed arena resources that can be gathered in the arena or stolen from other alliances during the game.
Pug-able?[edit]
Yes I believe it would be best to have both options to pre-form your groups or single player queue up for Alliance battles, rather than being forces to find a group of players in order to join in the battle.
Players who choice to do non-pugs would be placed in the game and matched up against other non-pugged groups to balance out the Pug vs non-Pug gameplay action.
In game Chat options could also improve the Non-Pug vs Pug dispute.
ALTERNATIVE NAMES[edit]
Like I said before, Alliance Battle is a name already taken by a current battleground. Not known if it will return in GW2, but in case it does, I think it would appropriate to at least brainstorm names for this instanced PvP game.
