It would be cool if (assuming there are lockpicks and chests in GW2) when a person went to use a lockpick on a chest, it didn't just pop open with no effort and break the lockpick, you actually had to pick it yourself. A window could pop up that that had a little puzzle or something you had to solve to get the chest open. It could be kinda like Ratchet and Clank; for chests in the Asuran lands, you have to like control and mini Golem to blast through bad guys or get through a maze to get to the end, which would unlock it. Charr could have some mechanical puzzle to solve, like get the metal ball to roll to the end past various obstacles. Humans and Norn could have a traditional lock with cogs, gears, and whatever else. These puzzles could get harder with increasing difficulty of the area around it. This way you could buy a one of the 4 different kinds of lockpicks for the different regions (more could be invented and included), and if the Asuran ones were Golems, then you could maybe just buy a mini Golem to keep with you in your inventory, and possible get upgrades for blasters or armor at a shop, or just with experience. People would need to clear all the monsters away from a chest before putting themselves into this vulnerable position. Lockpicks could also be more expensive, and have like an 80% chance to be retained. Alternatively, chests could be more rare, and once a party clears one out, they can all access it. Chests could randomly spawn and change every day, or for different parties, or they could be in set locations and players could only use them once every fortnight or so. I think this would be a fun enhancement to GW2, and a much better alternative to the expensive lockpick spamming in GW, where you just use a lockpick on a chest and it pops open as if by magic.
