Two handed shields, if the Guardian places a normal shield in his main hand, it become boosted with Guardian virtue and becomes a two handed shield, the shields size increases with purple Guardian power. (this means you don't need to create a whole new item type as all shields will do). By having a new weapon type, 5 new skills become available.
Shields in GW2 seem lacking in impact, so this would make the items more exciting and the Guardian class all the more defensive
The 5 skills will be a mixture of offensive and defensive (mostly) skills, I love the thought of being in a pinch and taking out the Two Handed Shield and smacking mobs around while granting protective boons, It could also be fun seeing a line of Two Handed Shield Guardians in PVP protecting key areas.
