Summary

Currently, when you change channels, the currently hidden and shown chat lines will be the same. For example, you are in local, trade is hidden, local is shown, trade is not shown. Switch to trade (Shift + 4 - $ - by default), trade is still hidden, local is still shown. If you want to hide local and show trade you have to change this manually, every single time. So, as the chat is right now, the lines you will see will not change just by clicking on a channel tab, you have to change the entire set of filters every time you want things changed.

Suggestion

I suggest to save the set of hidden and shown chat lines for each Chat tab separately. So you can, for example:

  • Set !Local to show Local, Team, Guild, Whisper and Emotes.
  • Set @Guild to show Team, Guild, Alliance and Whisper.
  • Set #Team to show Local, Team, Guild, and Whisper.
  • Set $Trade to show Trade, Guild and Whisper.
  • Set %Alliance to show Guild, Alliance and Whisper.
  • Set &Whisper to hide everything but whispers.

To set them, you simply switch to that channel by clicking the tab or using the shortcut (Shift + 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 or 6) and choose the filters. Then you change to other tab, change back again, and the set of filters is recovered. Now, instead of having to make all changes every time you change channel, your configuration for each tab would be saved. Click on trade, and the filters you use on trade are recovered, and you can quickly change between your own 'views' of the chat panel.
