Introduction[edit]

So, everyone likes to go on a game and be praised by others. A lot of players love to be recognised by their commitment and talent, and those work to be in the top players in rankings, be very talkative or annoying in chat (specifically, world-chat), be a leader of one of the biggest/oldest guilds in the game, etc. Some players really reach that achievement, most of the time that only happens in PVP or in using the world-chat.

I thought about a way to make players show themselves by their feats in a visual and attractive way, a way that all players will look at and certainly recognize you when they see you or talk about you without ever meeting you. It can also give you some fame to enter certain guilds that look for quality players, or players better for one kind of gameplay (PVP, minigames, whatever).

My idea is: Each player has the possibility of having a Banner, to display to all the other players in the home instance AND, more important, to display in one of the city/Guild-house/WxW-Keep/etc. too. Players that have better performances would get their banners posted in the cities fame wall, in the home instance, in PVP arenas, in their Guild fort/keep in WxW keep, in the beguinning of Dungeons, etc., placed for 1 week or untill someone exceeds the record.

Banners For Players[edit]

In the banner, it’s the name+race+class of the player and an image of the character, if it belongs to a Guild it can have the name of the Guild in the banner too.

Banners could be made in the home instance and in order to have more available text-fonts, background images, character positions, effects, etc., players could get more in micro-transactions. The banners would be vertically positionned below the title the player holds (I would add it the effect of moving with the wind), and would be placed in Fame Walls related to the different parts of the game: WvsW, PVE, Personal Storyline, Guilds.

There are no rankings. Only the players that hold the title (Hero Title) are displayed.

Fame Walls and Hero Titles[edit]

Usually there are rankings. But not in these walls. In these walls, only the players that hold the title have their banner showing.

Why no rankings? One of the most hated things in MMORPGs is when there are a lot of players that only want players with certain fame in their teams, guilds, dungeons, structured-PVP, etc. Without rankings, only the best are known and there is no search for the runner-ups since there is no info about anyone else besides the best player, so it will be rare to team up with someone that has a Hero Title.

Rules:

  • Hero Titles will display in the apropriated places with which they are related. PVE titles are in the cities/villages, WvsW titles are shown in different places in the WvsW, etc.
  • A player can only hold a title for 1 week, or untill someone breaks that player record.
  • WvsW - Each Guild only has 1 hero title.
  • WvsW - Each world has 5 world heroes and more the 1 hero each guild. Since hundreds of player in each world, I think this is a fair quantity.
  • The restricitons for WvsW aren't effective for PVE.
  • There is only 1 reward: Holding the title. With the title, you have a lot more things than you expect for (see "Purposes and Conclusions").

Examples[edit]

I only got some ideas of Hero Titles for WvsW and PVE.

W vs W - Placed in the major Keeps and Forts from each world (outside side of the walls).

  • Assassin (More people killed per hour)
  • Immortal (Less times died per hour)
  • Conquerer (More enemy belongings/places/keeps/etc. destroyed per hour)
  • Creator (More keeps/forts/etc. made per hour)
  • Reviver (More people the player has revived per hour)

PVE - Placed in the Fame Wall in each city/village.

  • Golden Hero (More normal events with gold reward per hour)
  • Local Hero (More local normal events with gold reward per hour)

Guilds in W vs W - The best players of each Guild are in the Keep/Fort walls (outside) the guild holds. Once the Keep is destroyed, so are the banners removed and can be placed new ones from the new guild the holds it.

Guilds in PVE - In the Guild Fame wall in the Guild Hall/Home, if there will be any of course.

Purpose and Conclusion[edit]

In my opinion, this won’t be such a problem about uploading the banners, since they will be the same for some time (1 week or untill breaks the record), positionned in the same places and it’s a fast thing to upload (we do it constantly in each site we visit), so it’s not a difficult thing to do .... I think. Is it?

With this idea, everyone will see and start to know who are the famous players in the server, just like how we see famous sport players or actors in advertisements everywhere and that’s how people start to know them and their job without having really seen the person. New players that are initially shy might be interested in knowing those players, others interested in reach the same feats in order to have their image in that place and be known, and others might even get interested in the Guilds the ones in the banners belong to. Additionally, players that get a title once will start to be recognized and get some fame among other players because his/her title will be showed in the wall for 1 week or untill someone breaks his/her record. That will give enough time for other players to look at his banner several times when playing and start to remmember him. Morcotulcon 01:43, 20 April 2011 (UTC)
