Walkthrough[edit]

Players will find themselves standing on the edge of one of the great tree's gigantic leaves; moving past the closest light will start the fractal proper.

Clear the Tree of Corruption

- Pacify the Unnatural Growths

For this initial section, players will have to defeat the several Unnatural Growths around the area.

The Unnatural Growths themselves can be physically killed; they'll spawn lesser plants which can easily be killed. Once they are defeated, the creatures will drop a bundle item; an Unnatural Seed. Players will need to carry these seeds to one of the pools of glowing water, which will purify them. This action will give the players three skills to use with these seeds; they may consume them and have their health filled or they may plant them, which will result in a small amount of damage to enemies and a small amount of healing to players, or three, they may throw the seeds at the Unnatural Growths, which will cause them to slowly lose health.

Once all the growths are defeated, the barrier to the next section will break up and allow passage.

- Awaken the Remaining Sylvari

As players venture further into the depths, they will find the low visability offset by small sources of light; Fireflies, flowers, ect.

In this section, players will need to open the various seed pods, trying to find the remaining Sylvari who have not awakened. As in the Twilight Arbor dungeon, the pods have a 50/50 chance of spawning either a corrupted creature (a Sylvari or Hound in this instance) or an ally (Sylvari or Hound). Both will glow, however the Corrupted Slyvari will have an overall grey glow, whereas the other Slyvari will have a brighter glow.

Each allied Sylvari will join the party, until they are reduced to 10% health, will aide the players in combat. Once all the allied Slyvari have been freed, they will all get up and charge the ramp leading down towards the next section. It is advised players do not follow them too closely, as once the last ally passes the front of the gate, the miniboss will drop from the floor above and entwine players.

Free the Tree's Avatar

This boss fight has two different stages, and each stage is very different. Once you have finished the first stage, the boss will

- Crack the Anchor's Shell

In the first stage, players will have to engage the rather large Corrupted Anchor. This boss uses a variety of skills which steal health; thus this fight is mainly about outlasting the boss. It has three main attacks. One, it will target a player and directly sap that player, giving it large health gains. Two, it will spit out a liquid wherever it is standing that will sap health from those in the area (a small amount per tic, but annoying enough) and thirdly, it will throw a bubble of energy around it; anything caught in this bubble will have a medium amount of health drained.

In this section, players have to get the boss down to below 50% health; once this is achieved the outer shell of the boss will explode outwards, damaging and poisening any players who come into contact with it. The boss will entangle players and flee down the ramp it blocked players from.

- Eradicate the Corrupted Anchor

Once the boss has fled down to the base of the tree, the fight will change.

The boss will continue to use the skills it had before, but will have three added attacks players will need to worry about; it will entagle all players and draw a small amount of health from them whilst they are entangled, and it will corrupt one of the Sylvari caught around it and throw them at a random player. The initial knockdown will damage players, but the spawned Sylvari will cause further damage to the players as thet hit quite hard. Players won't need to completely finish of these adds, as once they are down to 10% they will become allies.

The last attack is probably the most annoying for most classes, fine for some. When the boss reaches 25% health, he will taint the water the players are standing in. This is when the dripping water from above comes into play; players will need to stand under this water whilst the rest is toxic, or they will slowly lose health and the boss will gain it. The area this water covers can be expanded by any skills that block, creating an area in front of the blocker which is safe to tread in.

Players do no need to bring the boss's health down completely; once they bring the boss down to 5% the Tree's Avatar will break out from inside the boss, stabilizing the fractal.

Achievement

Sour the Bloodlines - Kill an enemy whilst being sapped by the last boss.
