Zaishen Fractal[edit]

In this fractal, players will attempt to evacuate as many of the Zaishen as possible from the Battle Isles, which are sinking due to Orr's rise.

Objectives

- Win your practice bout.
- Sound the alarms (0/5).
- Get the Zaishen to the docks.
- Warn High Priest Warstrike.
- Defeat Kun Shao's spirit.

Walkthrough[edit]

Throughout this fractal, players will see the tidal wave cause by Orr's rise looming on the horizon; getting closer with each passing minute. This is not tied to player actions, and although it will affect gameplay, it is theoretically possible to finish the fractal before the wave hits, just very hard to do so.

- The Bout

This is probably the most standard of all the fights; players will need to open the door once ready and defeat the opposing group of five Zaishen trainees, which will be a random group composition.

- Sound the Alarms

Once the bout is ended, the announcer NPC will shout for the group to raise the alarm. This is achieved by at least one player reaching the gongs and striking them with whatever skills they have. One thing to note is that hitting the gong with a melee attack will sound it loud enough to proceed, whereas you will need 3 hits with a ranged attack.

Each of the five alarms are in differing sections of the Zaishen complex, and each is dealt with in it own way.

-> The Shrine to Bear

The first section players will head through is nominally the Norn area; it is a shrine dedicated to Bear in her nature as a combatant. Players will need to take care not not bump into the sleeping Norn, as each Norn they awaken will rise and attempt to fight the players briefly. Whilst the enemy is easily dealt with, it takes time, which is at a premium in this fractal. The gong rests at the base of the Bear statue, on a raised ledge.

-> Kixx's Workshop

The second section players will move through is nominally the Asuran area; the gong is behind a protected field to stop it being hit accidentally. There will be several GOLEMs standing around; talking to these and defeating them will make them move the various switches to open the gong area. Simply hit the gong and move down through the facility to the human section.

-> Balthazar's Flame

The third section players will navigate through is the human one. Players will need to work thier way up the scaffolding around the statue of Balthazar, avoding the construction workers, who will attack the players, but non-veteran are fairly easily dealt with. The gong rests near the top of the structure. Players will need to cross a short jumping puzzle to the outer walls, and work their way down the scaffolding on the outside of the complex. Once they've made it to ground, players will head into the Charr section.

-> The Circle of Heroes

The forth gong is the Charr one; players will need to make their way across the relatively flat lands towards the Isle of the Nameless. In the center area they will find the Charr arguing. Defeating both of the rampaging Charr will allow the player to access the gong, and they will need to move back towards the main complex.

-> The Headquarters

The last gong is the easiest to find; it rests in the center of the Monument in the entrance hall. This gong will take a few hits to activate, as shown by a health bar.

- Towards the Docks

Once the gong is rung, players will need to make their way around through the training halls to the docks behind the complex. The players progress will be slowed by Zaishen holdouts, who refuse to leave the area until someone more powerful then them convinces them of the threat; these Zaishen will be unable to see the wave that has effected the other side of the complex. If the wave has broken, these NPC's will be replaced by panicking Zaishen, who will simply need to be interacted with, and they will move towards the dock.

The players progress will also be hampered by NPC's who will be running for the ships.

As the players reach the shore, if the wave has struck, they will see a boat being capsized offshore. If the wave has not struck, the boat will be sailing away from the Battle Isles. Either way, players will be directed towards the upper-reaches of the complex to save High Priest Warstrike.

- Xunlai Tournament House

Players will need to make their way back into the inner complex, and make their way up the fight of stairs nearest the back door. Once they've made their way up two flights of stairs (moving past the Zaishen running down the other way) they'll find the doors of the Xunlai Tournament house; a separate section perched on a nearby obelisk. Once inside, they'll find the High Priest in battle with the spirit of Kun Shao.

The fight is relatively strait forward, with Kun Shao only having two special attacks other then his normal attack; he will cause a storm of paper around him, which will blind the players and do a small amount of damage, and has a AoE spell which causes players to become chilled and immobilized.

Once he has been defeated, simply run back across the bridge you entered the room from, where the chest will appear.

Achievement

Calm Before the Storm - Save all the Zaishen before the wave strikes.
