My suggestion is simply to add customizable character selection screens; ie, choose from a number of selection types. The original character selection screen which had your characters walk forward when clicked and back away when deselected was very nice; adding on to this, it would be very cool if one could choose the background/theme, style of selection, and how much character information is displayed on the selection screen.
