Feedback:User/Previously Unsigned/Guild Wars 2 - Beta Weekend Event Feedback

Here you will find my ongoing Beta impressions of GW2 as measured from beta even to beta event. I realize the game is unfinished (BETA) but that doesn't mean I won't mention flaws or improvements if I see them!

Event 1 (April 27-29)[edit]

Appearance Templates[edit]

I would nice if we had the ability to save/export character templates, you know with height, weight, etc. With all the additional options, it would help if one wants to reroll a PvP character with slightly different looks (rather than screenshot the entire setup and waste time making the character over again).

Better Target Selection Visual[edit]

I predicted that WvW would be full of lag, hard to follow targets, and skill effect overload. It is unplayable at the moment IMO. However, one thing to improve it would be an option to ‘’really’’ see who you’re targeting. A bit of red and an arrow helps when there is not many. Once things start going on with real mobs, good luck trying to follow anybody. It turns into mayhem where most use “target nearest”. That isn’t skill! Another reason why this would be essential is since so many skills need proper aiming. Helps to know where to aim in the first place.

Chat Bubbles[edit]

We NEED chat bubbles. I know it will be eventually but have to mention it here too, as it’s an observation.

Chat Channels Explained[edit]

Squad vs Team vs Party? I understand that Team is used for WvW though, but maybe a bit of explanation, and also how to clear the entries that show up everything time you whisper somebody.

ESDF controls[edit]

Can we please have a built in ESDF option? It is kinda annoying to have to rebind everything to the left.

Improving Skill Descriptions[edit]

There are several things I missing from current skill descriptions.

1. Activation time not displayed 2. No way to view chain skills unless you are doing the chain (then the skills warp by at max speed – too fast to read) 3. I don’t appreciate the larger font. Guild Wars 1 smaller was way better 4. All damage, range, and conditions listed in bullets, kinda “puked out”. Put conditions on one side and books on another. Range could also have a special area. 5. No concise descriptions!

Mesmer[edit]

Phantasms: Here are some topics I came across on Guild Wars 2 Guru that I basically agree with completely. [1] and [2]

Option tooltips[edit]

Add some mouse overs that explain what some options do.

Quick Armor Dying[edit]

Let us dye armor color globally, for example when I change the color of one pieces of armor’s “Color 1”, other pieces change to the same thing as well. Since there are so many new combinations of color in Guild Wars 2, to preview what a set would look with a certain set takes a lot more click. There would be an option below the dye panel called “Quick dye” and it would enable checkboxes next to each dyeable armor piece. This should be applied to the normal hero panel as well.

Skill Bar: Problems With Alternative Key Bindings[edit]

I use ESDF, so the usual area of skills will be shifted one key over. By this I mean when one uses 12345 in WASD, the same skills correspond with the number and finger, ie 1 = first finger (ring), first skill, 2 = middle finger, second skill, and so on. This is also how it appears on screen in the skill bar. But for somebody with ESDF, now 2 controls 1 and so on, and the off hand skills need to can placed around skills 1-3 (keys 1 and 5). Having played the Beta and seeing no way to move skills 4-5 "around", it is making the game quite unnecessarily hard. These problems affect any other configuration too, not just ESDF. I'm merely asking that if one equips different weapons while in combat, skills 4 and 5 will be automatically placed to keys 1 and 5 (in my example) or any other location automatically rather than having to do some shuffling each time. As this was never solved in GW1 or given a "lock" feature to remember skill positions outside of templates, I hope this gets fixed. Hare some images to illustrate my point:

Skill bar: Show Stat benefits[edit]

For example, when one invests in lengthening condition time, the skills mouse overs should be updated to factor in the benefit. If have 50% longer conditions, a skill which causes a 5s condition should now say 7.5s/8s. It makes no sense to show the base length. It doesn't show just base damage.

Whisper Is Broken[edit]

Right click character's face, then Whipser. Chat does nothing to initiate chat by placing their name in for you.

Zoom level[edit]

Zoom level does not go out as far or deep as Guild Wars 1. Really need far for WvW and deep for first person scenery/wiki purposes.
