Feedback:User/Ras/Server concept not fun

The server concept as today is not contributing to fun during game-play on the contrary, it is somewhat disturbing.

Our guild tried to go to a populated server on the last beta. That was full, we were not able to go there. Then we went to a server with low population. I was level 25 so I wanted to play on the new 25-35 area, very few there. Did not dare to move due to change limit added later on, guest system is not yet active. I was alone most of the time on that map. Sometimes I invited mates to play with me OK, sometimes went to low level areas, more people there OK. But I wanted to play with more people on the map of my choice, though I rarely met anyone. More spontaneously like on the first beta.

What about an underflow concept e.g.. When too few people on an area on a server then merge a few server's population on that area?

  • All people from the same server shall go to the same Underflow server.
  • Shall be able to choose to go back to normal somehow
  • Might be optional, some people might prefer to be alone.

But again, I think I am just scratching the surface with the underflow proposal. The core of the problem is that the server concept in general is not fun. All aspects of it are not fun. The only fun part is that it is a "community" for WvW, but even that is not quite fun as changing your community would require all your guild simultaneously moving. I think that it is a relic of the past, and while it simplifies implementation, it is not nice.

Uff.
