Background to Suggestion[edit]
Recently, the Frequently Asked Questions (F.A.Q.) page for the Hall Of Monuments (H.O.M.) of Guild Wars (GW1 / GW2) was amended to include information, that the 'God Walking Amongst Mere Mortals' (G.W.A.M.M.) title, was captured in an account's H.O.M., simply by entering the H.O.M. with a character from that account, that carries the G.W.A.M.M. title. This is great news for all account holders, who have had their G.W.A.M.M. character/s deleted (either involuntarily or voluntarily) and who had previously been left to wonder, if their G.W.A.M.M. achievements with their character/s, would still be carried forward into GW2.
However, the above leaves certain account holders with a fresh concern:
- "Did I enter my H.O.M. with my G.W.A.M.M. character/s or not (before this/these particular character/s was/were deleted)?"
Whilst most would like to assume they did, some scenarios do not allow one to recall this with certainty. It may have been several months in the past since the G.W.A.M.M. character/s was/were deleted, or indeed, there could be a plethora of possible reasons for not being certain.
Is there a way of finding out whether or not I did enter my H.O.M. with my G.W.A.M.M. character?[edit]
Now that it is established, that the G.W.A.M.M. achievement is recorded in each account's H.O.M., some, especially those account holders that have had their G.W.A.M.M. character/s deleted, would ask themselves the following question: Is there a way of finding out whether or not I did enter my H.O.M. with my G.W.A.M.M. character?
Currently, it seems, there is not.
If one enters an in-game H.O.M. with a character that HAS NOT achieved the G.W.A.M.M. title, and that character is from an account in which a G.W.A.M.M. character used to, or indeed, does exist, there is no evidence that the account indeed has had the G.W.A.M.M. title unlocked for the purpose of it being carried forward into GW2. Neither can one receive this form of confirmation from the online H.O.M. rewards calculator.
Suggestion to ArenaNet[edit]
The suggestion to ArenaNet is formulated via the following question: Can ArenaNet include the G.W.A.M.M. title achievement within the online H.O.M. rewards calculator OR display it within an in-game H.O.M.?
This could be done as elaborate or non-elaborate as desired.
Online H.O.M. rewards calculator suggestions:
- ArenaNet could simply add the abbreviation "G.W.A.M.M." somewhere on the H.O.M. rewards calculator display.
- Or maybe ArenaNet could allocate a separate tab/pane along with the existing tabs/panes, that is dedicated specifically to the G.W.A.M.M. title achievement and allows for similar achievement tracking as the already existing "Honor" tab/pane.
- Perhaps ArenaNet could also simply list it in some form under the already existing "Honor" tab/pane?
In-game H.O.M. suggestions:
- ArenaNet could add the display of the G.W.A.M.M. title when in 'ACCOUNT VIEW' (this is the option within the in-game H.O.M., by which any character on an account, can view the entire accounts H.O.M. achievements), even for characters who enter a H.O.M. that do not carry the G.W.A.M.M title, much like it is displayed (for a few brief seconds) for G.W.A.M.M. characters when they enter a H.O.M. - or else, when a character requests the specific Non Person Player (N.P.C.) to toggle from 'Character View' to 'Account View', the G.W.A.M.M. achievement for the account could then be displayed in a similar (few brief seconds) format.
- Maybe ArenaNet could add it to the "Honor" monument within the in-game H.O.M. when in 'ACCOUNT VIEW' .
There are limitless possible variants, some more appropriate than others. Ultimately though, this would enable all account holders to know exactly where they stand in regards to the G.W.A.M.M. title and whether or not, it has been secured for the future GW2 account and its characters!
