Feedback:User/Sekushu/1v1 World Tour Dueling

Back in the day I had this really cool idea, where when 2 players join a match they'll be teleported somewhere else randomly on the continent. They'll then be visible as holograms to others whom are near by. No one can interact with them and vice versa.

Of course there can only be certain terrans that are available for this to avoid all the populated locations or the dynamic events. From these landscapes a random location will be chosen. The players will have to adapt to their environment as every duel will be different. Imagine yourself fighting on top of a mountain top, in the middle of a savannah, next to the foot of a giant statue or even under the bottom of the sea. All those scenes will add a dramatic feel to the duel.

This also benefits the open world because as I've explored a lot of the other worlds in different games, I've pretty much walked my path alone. Wouldn't it be fun to see 2 guys fighting in the middle of nowhere as you walk by a grassland? Something to spice up the boring persistent world? Something to make the world comes alive?

Which kind of defeats the purpose. You would also have duels taking place in areas that other players like to sit back and enjoy the scenery.. That cliff-top view isn't so great with two Charr fighting on top of you.

That's why it's all random. In chance it could be an awesome experience or just fighting in some random places. Overall it is an unorthodox way of dueling that I think the players will enjoy more than the old boring way. It also keeps the open world from being too quiet and lonely. They can simply solve the other problem by having a scenic view mode, where all the UI and holograms disappear.

The holograms can be as realistic as you want with a slider. Would you want to travel 5 mins to get the your favorite spot for just a duel? Things like that could be a little weird because it's so scripted and generally human are lazy asses. It'll just cross their mind as troublesome and uncalled for. This on the other hand you don't know where you're going and every duel could be very different. You could even port to somewhere you haven't been before. After each duel end you can have the option to go back to where you were originally or stick around for a duration of 1 or 2 mins.

No you won't have your char name displayed or be able to talk to people. You might just be invisible. That couple of mins is for you to explore and view the scenery for a bit.

Final words:

This may sounds like a flashy mechanic more than a practical one but that is what this mechanic is all about; making the players feel awesome.
