I post this not as a fan of race specialization, but rather as an enemy of the "well-rounded" concept of humans which seems to be all the rage in every other MMO RPG I've ever played. Well-rounded, in my experience, has been just another word for "incompetent". Games which attempt to feature humans as a "well-rounded" race rather than giving them an area to specialize in fail at making human a worthwhile race not because they fail to make them well-rounded, but rather because a well rounded race just isn't worth playing.
Recently, the "Characteristics" portion of the race descriptions on the GW2 Wiki page was removed by the user Santax. However, before that happened my characterization of humans as sly, organized, religious, collaborative, and authority driven was generally accepted. If anyone at Anet is having trouble thinking of how to specialize human advantages, that's my best attempt at characterizing them in contrast with other races of Tyria. Humans often lead the other races in EotN through guile and fought using stealth tactics. They are the only race which has established nation-states and centralized governments as well as organized religion. If there is to be stealth in GW2, Humans should have an avantage there. Also in training and team combat. The polytheistic religion of the Humans should also not be overlooked. The advantages of worshiping the six true gods could play an important role in gameplay.
Lastly, if my suggestion is unhelpful (which it may very well be since almost nothing has been revealed as to what Anet intends to do with race specialization) then ignore it and come up with your own human characteristics, but, please, I beg of you do not make humans the "well-rounded race" of GW2. Interest in human characters is already at rock bottom. There are several sections of the discussion box on humans at GW2 Wiki asking if anyone really wants human in the game. Unless you break the mold and come out with an interesting, new characterization of humans, well, I think you can see through to the conclusion. And no, no one wants a well-rounded race in GW2, and yes you are just being very, very lazy if you think it's a good idea. There is no justification or possible motivation for making human "well-rounded" except to say "Oh well, we work really hard on making four worthwhile races. What do people need five for, a power ranger team?" and "Everyone else does it.".
