Feedback:User/SpiritSplit/Static Vs. Dynamic Compass / Radar Preference

Update: This feature request has been confirmed, to be possibly implemented or working on adding into the game.

While watching video demo's of Guild Wars 2, I noticed that the games Compass or Radar was set as a Static type Radar, versus a dynamic Radar like in the original Guild Wars. I'd like to see an option implemented in Guild War's 2 that allows players to choose between or toggle between their preferred Radar Style (Static Or Dynamic).

I didn't notice this untill a Guild War's 2 facebook fan posted what he noticed about the radar and from their I also grew concerned. The fan stated: "Wow...Idk how this was overlooked, but it actually kind of concerns me. The compass/radar at the bottom right of the screen in GW2 really bothers me. I really hope you can switch from the static radar (monstrosity) to the more dynamic radar of the original Guild Wars. Thoughts?"

To help explain the difference between a Static and Dynamic Radar, the facebook member explained:

  • "A static map is one that remains still, and when you turn, only the indicator showing which way you're facing turns.
  • Dynamic maps turn with the player indicator, which always faces the "north" (faces up) direction, and the map acts as a compass."

Other games have implemented this to comfort and assist player's in their preferred method of gameplay. If your still not sure about the differences between a Static & Dynamic Radar, just compare the original Guild Wars with Guild Wars 2. Again, I'd like to see an option implemented in Guild War's 2 that allows players to choose between or toggle between their preferred Radar Style (Static Or Dynamic). There's probably a chance that this issue has been addressed already, but to play it safe; I decided to submit my feedback.

Thanks again,
