Hello everyone!

Before my suggestion is presented, I would like to aknowledge the impecable work carried out by all the ArenaNet team members that created Guild Wars. This game is a masterpiece congratulations!

This post is about the "Legendary Defender of Ascalon" title track and how it is the only title in the entire game that is unattainable by certain characters.

As we all know both this title and the legendary survivor title were mutually exclusive, meaning that a character prior to the update that made changes to the survivor title track could not get both titles. Said update eliminated this problem, making it so that PVE characters could now get both titles, "sadly" it isn't so.

PVE titles should all be attainable, there shouldn't be a title exclusive to only one campaign and this is what happens with the "Legendary Defender of Ascalon" title track. I am well aware that the Pre-searing is an integral part of the Prophecies campaign and that there is no equivalent to it in either the Factions and Nightfall campaigns.

This makes it impossible for (Assassins, Ritualists, Dervishes and Paragons) to ever have this title. It generates a certain lack of equality between campaigns, which will ultimately affect some players gameplay. (Let's imagine someone starts playing the game and is aiming for the "God Title track", they will imediatelly start thinking - i will create a prophecies character because i will get one more title that isn't account wide, making it easier to achieve the god title. What this does is limit preference in character creation for the "achievement hunter type of player".) This situation should be rectified.

My solution would be to make the "Legendary Defender of Ascalon" title track attainable in two ways. Either by getting your character to level 20 in Pre-searing or by killing a specific number of charrs in Post-Searing Ascalon(Ex: 1000 charrs killed would get you the title).

This would solve not only the problem of Factions and Nightfall characters being able to get the title, but it would also allow characters that existed prior to the title's creation to be able to attain it aswell.

It would seem that implementing this change would be hard but i don't believe so, there are plenty of charr to kill in ascalon. And to avoid trivialising gameplay, a specific area of the Prophecies campaign should be used to validate enemy kills, a suitable area could be "Flame Temple Corridor" or "Dragon's Gullet".

And I see 2 ways of doing this: 1 - Deaths towards the title would only count if in Hard Mode, it would present a challenge for some people since the closest outpost "Grendich Courthouse" will only enable you to carry a 4 player party or you could choose to go back to "old school guild wars" and backtrack all the way from Temple of The Ages; 2 - Creation of an NPC in Ascalon City, who would give a daily quest much like what happens in pre-searing, but in this case, to kill a certain number of charr. You would receive a death count towards the title for any charr killed while said quest was active, and upon completion of the quest you would receive experience, some gold (100g 250g) and depending on how fast you killed your enemies a bonus of 5 to 10 kills added towards the title track.

This is my suggestion fueled by the hopes of many (including myself), that this title be made accessible to people from other campaigns and for older characters who never got the chance to get it in the first place.

I wish all the best to everyone that is involved directly or indirectly with Guild Wars, and to thank you all for this amazing game experience, keep up the good work.
